Nothing came up on search, but if someone's already posted this I apologise:

Slash consumes several large vodka and cranberrys and still looks remarkably sober. We discuss the two versions of Guns N' Roses Greatest Hits Vol II. One is done by Axel's management. Slash says the track listing is good but the politics from Axel's management leave a lot to be desired. The other is done by Universal. Slash tells me he hasn't approved either, so who knows what'll come out.

http://rosshalfin.co.uk/diary/november-2005/diary-november-2005.html

Oh hum, that's definitely interesting, thanks for posting. What's up with the two versions though? We've never heard of that before.
On a totally unrelated note, I find it pretty surprising that a guy like Ross Halfin doesn't know how Axl's name is spelled. Someone should give him a heads-up.

Two versions?

Does that mean they'll release two version now in addition to the first version that was released last year?  confused

Maybe (if it's a 2CD set) one disc is done by Axl and one by Universal? Funny way of doing things...

I wonder how Universal's version will differ from Greatest Hits.....

Don't know, but it seemed like he was pleased with the current tracklist from Axl..

so this makes it seem like we can soon purchase Guns N' Roses Greatest Hits Vol II (done by Universal), Guns N' Roses Greatest Hits Vol II (done by Axl), and Welcome to the Jungle: The Very Best of Guns N' Roses.. Huh

That is some interesting information.

I've got a theory! Axl's version of GH2 is actually Chinese Democracy and Slash liked the tracklisting! Grin

...

What do you mean? This bit of information from Halfin would kill all the GH2 covering up CD theories? hihi
On a more serious note, Slash thought Axl's tracklisting was good but he hasn't approved it yet...

Just to make it clear: WTTJ: The Best of GN'R IS GH2. It's just a shorter way to call it.

I took this to mean there are two versions in consideration with regard to the tracklist, not that they are releasing two different versions

Disappointing - I was really starting to think it could be a cover for CD

this all makes no sense... wasnt the original greatest hits universal's version? ?so now they are going to release one disc with songs that axl picks and then a 3rd disk with songs that universal picks? ?how different could they be? ?sorry to post 20 questions... but... if axl is still finishing chinese democracy what is he doing picking songs for a greatest hits cd. ?and why can the record company, axl, gnr's management, or any other band member.. shed some light on this like a normal band... ?God its frustrating be GNR fan. ?on a diff note.. did anyone notice that there is no record company listed on amazon either? ?wouldn't the cd have to be from geffen?

Maybe it wasn't clear enough. Maybe it meant that there are 2 versions they are choosing from.. as in 2 different track listings  Huh

Weird that Axl seemingly approves this project  Undecided

Well last time he couldn't stop them, so maybe this time he decided: if they do release a GH2, he might as well participate and give them a worthy product for the fans.

Yeah, that's what it sounds like. I suppose Axl came up with his own tracklist since he was unhappy with the previous GH.

It has been almost 2 years since I first posted about Greatest Hits II (Axl's version) being released before Chinese Democracy.  With no one believing me, it actually DID happen 2 years later.  I tried to bring the post back up but it was deleted somehow.  This will happen and Sam Goody actually told me this themselves several months ago.  Axl and his company will hand pick the greatest hits and it will be released to the public BEFORE chinese Democracy no

About the two versions:

Maybe one refers to the '04 GH, and the other the new one set for 12/20.

Slash said two versions of Greatest Hits vol. 2.

No, because why would Slash have to approve of something that has been out for a year? It just sounds they are choosing between Axl's tracklisting or Universal's. They should come up with a poll and let the fans choose what should be on it.
