What would be cool is what U2 did for their 1980-1990 best of: CD1 with regular tracks and CD2 with unreleased tracks and B-sides. Ha, one can dream!
Yeah.... Imagine an album for the casual
AND
old fans.
Heartbreak Hotel, Jumping Jack Flash and other pre-AFD demos.
Ain't Goin' Down from the UYI sessions. Down On The Street from the "TSI?" sessions...
Throw in some live tracks and you'd have a full cd....

Then why not split them apart rather than making both sets of fans pay for stuff they are not really interested in. It could be a simultaneous release.
I'd like to have old, acoustic, versions of Don't Cry and NR and even the old version of Back off Bitch when it was really fast and aggressive, plus Crash Diet and any other unreleased stuff

Ok, Let?s try and find some truth in all of this. Of course, everything in relative terms and IMO. There are some facts that needed to be recouped.
1 ? Tommy?s website ? news on a GN?R front might be coming soon
2 ? Merck?s ? 2005 will be the year of Guns N? Roses
3 ? Richard?s hoping that ChiDem will be released in early 2006
4 ? Da Vinci Code?s rumour and everything about it
5 ? Axl?s well-known statement from 2002 about how he would like to let the music speak first ? don?t forget about that !
6 ? Leaking issues
7 ? Sanctuary?s (if I?m not wrong) ? this thing would promote itself when it comes out, single is all we need
8 ? ?WTTJ best of? release date (not official yet) for december 20th 2005 ? why not official and why does Sanctuary responded Sp1at that GN2 rumour is not true??? And no, I don?t think that Amazon listing of ?best of? is something disturbing in a way that can deny something else for what we are actually hoping
9 ? Merck?s(this is also from Sp1at) ? ?don?t try to guess what will happen next, we will announce the news when we are ready? ? this is different than we used to get
10 - ?nothing from Jarmo, Madison??? It?s interesting that Jarmo is letting all this rumours to fly lately, like he?s pretty happy about them, maybe he has some confiedence in them. Why? Is it possible that none of them can not get some inside info? And what about Mysteron? Where?s is she/he now?
11 ? After all these years in the making and the money that is invested in it, does anybody in his right mind really thinks that part of the material that was recorded isn?t going to be released???
12 ? Johan?s post
?Hallo Gunners!!
My "guess" is that Cd is closer than ever to be released.
The courtcase was delayed untill the spring 06, guess why?
Mr Axl Rose will be busy with promotion of CD!!!
I think catcher in the rye could be released as a single, december 8 ( 25 years after Mr Lennons death)!!
? this is pretty interesting
Best regards/Johan?
13 ? You know I?ve been listening Guns N? Roses for like a last 15 years and there?s one thing that is really important to know about them ? they always did the unexpected ! That is something really essential about Guns N? Roses and this might be something that Axl himself values a lot.
I really didn?t have patience to right this one down corectly but I think it?s understandble. Please note that english is not my mother tongue, thanks.
With all this and if we are lucky enough not to have some really sick people on this and other two boards I think there?s a strong possibility that everything about this GH2 is actually way to put Chinese democracy out and to find Axl happy about it.
Then again, I might be wrong, hope not cause it would definitly mean that some bad things is about to come.
Cheers,
Someone who has been around and don?t have any inside info

I'm expecting something like that....selected by x-members (ie not Axl)
Not exactly a dream album for the fans of the new band but oh well....that's life.
Regardless, we will see Chinese Democracy in 2006. hopefully

Because they're a record company and they want to see the product sell and appear on the charts.

I know, its just unfortunate that is the way it has to be. But also by lumping two cds together and charging more they could be susceptible to less sales and more downloading

It's weird, just the inclusion of the Crash Diet demo alone would make this a def buy for me..
If Geffen knows what they're doing...they might be doing something like that to make hardcore fans buy this. But then again, casual fans are probably their main target for this kind of release...
But this time, they'd HAVE to do some re-mastering, right?? They cant just include Crash Diet the way it is now!
Johan's comments made me think this was gonna be CD
, but I'd be happy if it was unreleased songs also.

It would
really
annoy me if the record company do this. I have all of GNR's albums, and have probably purchased AFD 3 times over in diffrent formats. I don't need the old tracks again so to release an album with one song that I don't have I personally think is ripping off loyal fans.
As a B-Side to a GH single release, or as part of a rare songs release would be more acceptable.
?addin' another rare track to AFD it means Geffen always finds another dirty trick to take our money away so Geffen hear this from me : you suck like a dirty toilet TODAY, you won't get a fucking coin from me this stupid way!,
what u'll do the next time? ....ya add another jerk track to some official album where Axl sings while he took a shower at some hotel room?

to be honest, i won't mind if they'd release such a double-cd-set and sometime thru 2006 CD. at least that would be a reason to buy it!

21,95USD on Amazaon? This can never be CD, way too expensive it is not gonna sell. They would also have to release a cheaper set for the mainstream music fans....
For a "best of" it is still expensive but people would buy it, since it is best of and they get 2 CDs (with songs we already have..most likely twice...)

If the record company wants to maximize profit, I hope it's a worldwide release. Although, I haven't heard an official statement regarding the international release date.

As cafcnickdugay said,
"The album is set for release on December 20 Stateside ? a British release hasn't yet been confirmed."
According to
this site
.
While Universal Music Norway earlier said 'It' would come out next year (march), at the same time all over the world.(ta, spirit)
What was that march thing, then?

Why would an album by GN'R who, it could be argued, are possibly more popular in Europe than their native US only get a US release?
Something doesn't quite add up.

I know it's gonna be a special edition to South America for sure...this is the best place of the world where GNR has sold out all their tours n' albums from the start,
the u.s.a ain't deserve a thing from GNR just cuz that country didn't support'em like the way it meant to be, even everyone is hearin' Shakira n' Ricky Martin over there THESE DAYS!!!!
