It doesn't work like that. It won't sell because it's illogical. It's a bad strategy.

If it sells even 500,000 copies they will be doing cartwheels as it is essentially 100% profit on any copies sold as all the costs were paid years ago when the material was recorded.
GH's albums are cash cows for that very reason.

Is it a best of now? Because a best of surely suggests non singles? That would sell IMO. But isn't it actually titled GH2?

Other codenames for UYI were "Girth" and "Buy It" (or "Buy Product"?).
I thought "Girth" was a working title for the song Coma...

Nytunz is this "Ted Dibiase" a one post wonder of mygnr? I'm not familiar with wrestling?
Yeah an announcement now would be nice.
Regardless of the GH2 buisiness, I go for the magic number '8'. Viva CD in 2006!
I want to say that Ted Dibiase posted awhile back on MyGNR containing info on the IRS leak.? I could be wrong, I don't frequent that site often.
I'm a MYGNR regular and I don't think this is correct.
"Ted Dibase" is just some funny poster - the class clown. I highly doubt he has any information regarding any upcoming albums.
I'm just astonished over the secrecy and silence that surrounds this. I mean - its just a greatest hits/best of record. Why is Merck silent? Why is Geffen silent? Why is Sanctuary silent...?
It's odd.
Edit: Oh and its supposed to be out in 32 days. What the...?

Exactly, any amount of sales would be profit at this point.
And for those of you who think this will delay CD, your wrong. The only thing I see "The Best Of" doing is promoting CD. By putting out a greatest hits and best of, your gaining more fans and bringing back old ones. Then within 6 months you drop CD, and you have a lot more interested fans. A lot more than you would have if nothing was released previously.
Let's face the fact, it's been way too long since GNR has released any new material. Without bringing back there hits and putting them on an album, many people may have just forgot about them, and surely the younger generation may not even have heard of them. I think releasing a greatest hits, or best of, is a great idea for a band coming back after a long hiatus to release a new album. GNR had an opportunity to release CD after the greatest hits came out, and now they will have another prime opportunity to release CD after the "best of" comes out. Let's hope they don't pass on this one.

IT'S CHINESE DEMOCRACY
You don't have to believe me, I don't know anymore than you guys. I have no secret source coming out of my ass but I can use COMMON SENSE and LOGICAL THINKING. Well ok, forget that logicial thinking part - it's GN'R. But seriously...ask yourself the following questions:
- Why no statement from Slash, Duff or any other old member?
- Why no tracklist revealed? It's a compilation - the songs are known!
- Why so hush-hush from the official sides?
- Why so late and not for the christmas market?
- Why a double album when they only had three "real" albums?
- Why now when the first GH was just released?
- Why no promo, no tracklist no nothing, when a GH should bring CASH?
BECAUSE IT'S CHINESE DEMOCRACY!!!
If not then I'm wrong and uncool and I don't give a fuck cos the world still turns then. But at the moment, for me all signs lead to one thing: THE ALBUM!
Now are you fans or what?
Then have some fucken FAITH!

I agree, the rumour has been out there for a month now, and STILL no comments from ANYONE? If this is a best of, then I guess Slash and Duff would be a part of the song-selection and thus giving some comments on the album in the media.
Dizzy had no idea of this thing (though he had heard some rumours from some fans while on the road.. ?
) STRANGE...

Its not CD face the facts. It's not possible for it to be CD at this stage in the game. 2/3 months ago it could have been a cover for it but not this close to the release. People would know by now, this is just going to be a cash grab by Universal.

Then why not release it earlier in december and make even more money?
