Have we ruled out the fact that it's a cover up for CD?
Well, Axl said in 2002 that it would be 18 tracks plus a bonus disc...

That rumour went around before the first Greatest Hits was released.
And of all the rumours that one was my favorite. I actually thought it might just happen and this was Axl's way to say here are GN'R's greatest hits. By that, I mean the "greatest" being the new GN'R lineup.
Axl's way of finally burying the old band and putting them in the past. I thought it was a cool and interesting rumour.
Too bad it didn't come to be true.
True that the same rumor went around before, BUT, it was common knowledge that Axl did all he could to stop it from being released. He even went as far as teaming up with his enemies Slash and Duff to put a stop to it.
It does'nt seem like he's trying to put a wrench in the works this time.
But no, I don't think it's a cover-up, although I like the idea myself.

Looks like Universal are once again taking a huge shit on us and Axl:
http://www.musictap.net/
Geffen Records will release a 2CD 'best of' collection from Guns and Roses called Welcome To The Jungle: The Very Best of Guns 'N Roses. This 2CD collection will come in both PA and Edited forms and will be available to fans on December 20, just in time for gift-giving. Mark it.
Shit

I really really don't think Axl would be in on this oh so obvious cash grab. He didn't back the first GH, so what makes you think he would back this one?

Where do websites get the info about GNR releasing a double cd, i mean there hasnt been any announcements by gnr, geffen, universal, or sanctuary. so basically all we have are rumors, and its said that as fans of a band with the all the potential of gnr, that all we are left with to look forward to are rumors

People think "Axl is in on it" because neither Axl, Slash, or Duff is bitching and moaning about its release. Them not saying anything negative about GH 2 is basically legitamizing it to some people. I dont care whether Axl bitches about it or stands on Mount Everest and praises it, I wont be buying it.

He might not be bitching about it in public (yet) but that still doesnt mean he supports it. And like you, unless it has NEW material on it I wont be buying it. Im not about to give Universal more money for songs I allready own.

Yeah, It has to have new material on it if they want it to sell. This one will flop if its rehashing old shit. It has to have at least one new song on it for it to be successful. I dont think some old demos like Crash Diet, Aint Goin Down, etc. is gonna save it from flopping. Most GNR fans have heard those demos. GNR is not the type of band that can keep on releasing hits albums. They dont have enough material to be able to make a career out of it. Remember when Slaughter released a hits album after only doing 2 albums? Thats just slightly more pathetic than the GNR hits situation. GNR did AFD, Lies, UYI, and TSI.They released one hits album, with a 2 cd set of hits on the way. Something is wrong with this picture. I'm starting to get the feeling that CD has been delayed again.

2 CDs? They released 3 actual albums of studio material (AFD and UYI & II). Are they just gonna put a Live Era short mix on CD2? We know it won't be "new GN'R" stuff. If Universal know what they're doing, they'd put a few demos in there or even unreleased live tracks. Please not Paris and Tokyo 92 again.
EXACTLY, Hell I will even toss Spa-Get into the list and give them 4 studio albums (be it covers on one) but come on, if this happens we will have 3 discs of "Greatest Hits" out of 4 studio albums!!! ?Someone is just trying to get their money back and have ZERO faith in CD ever coming out. ?Can't say I blame them, I guess........but it's still absurd. ?Hell, my band doesn't even have a DEMO done yet, but I think we are going to call it "Greatest Hits" when it does get done.......lol..........

Finally, we have some interesting news. We got a whole plate of upcomings, especially stuff that extend well into the first quarter of 2006. Nice. It'll help to make for better reading after all since I'm sure you're all getting quite tired of my ramblings. We even have an update on the before mentioned Guns n Roses' 'best of' (you read it here first; I know you did, I've read all of the puzzlement on the boards and received a whole lotta emails.)

well he was very quick to take legal action last time round - why not this time? It could be because he's approved this GH, but that flys in the face of his rationale last time - that he wants to forge a distinct path with the new band. Live era was supposedly the end of that era for Axl. So if he's not contesting this, what are the reasons?
Is it a possibility this is a cover for CD??
Sounds crazy but......

I have a feeling Axl wants to leave Geffen. If I'm not mistaken Axl's contract with Geffen ends soon.
Somebody find out when the contract ends. Then I believe we'll get Chinese Democracy.
