A spokesperson for Geffen Records has confirmed to Launch that a second GUNS N' ROSES greatest hits album is coming. MusicTap.net has reported a tentative release date of December 6, but other sources, including Universal Music Norway, are suggesting a March 2006 arrival for the disc. The label spokesperson did not have information on a release date or any other details about the set.
The first GUNS N' ROSES hits collection, released in March of 2004, has sold nearly 2.5 million copies in the U.S. GUNS N' ROSES vocalist Axl Rose, along with former guitarist Slash and ex-bassist Duff McKagan, tried to block the release of "Greatest Hits" with a lawsuit, claiming that the record label had assembled the CD without their input.
The band's label, Geffen Records, insisted that it was forced to put out a greatest hits album since Axl Rose had failed to deliver the long-delayed new GUNS album, "Chinese Democracy". That project has still not been scheduled for release.

Well this should be all sorts of fun. Can't wait to see Geffen's statement on this.

I can't believe there has been no statement yet from that worthless manager Merck.
I think he needs to be spammed!

No, sir. Merck does not need to be spammed. Please don't do that. If the fans want Merck to be forthcoming and polite, we should be polite with him. Spamming his inbox would be very rude.

I disagree. He needs to know about the confusion. Sit back and be polite? I'm normally a fan of "treat others the way you want to be treated". But I'm fed up. Axl and Merck have left all of us hanging time and time again. All we want is a damn statment. How hard is it?

Merck probably has precious little to do with this. If it IS a Greatest Hits II (and not just some sort of naming ruse to cover CD's tracks to discourage leaks and the like) then Merck really has nothing to do with it.
This is sounding more like another arm twist move from Geffen, to me.
(provided its accurate, of course)

Not to nitpick, but it says:
Quote
A spokesperson for Geffen Records has confirmed to Launch that a second GUNS N' ROSES greatest hits album is coming.
It doesn't actually say an article on the launch.com website. Could it be a specific person at Launch that Blabbermouth is in touch with?

There is no such article on the Launch website. I don't understand why Launch would get such a confirmation and then not make a story out of it. I really don't see why they would just pass along the information to another site, so the other site could make a news story out of it.

All these "confirmations" from Geffen and nobody has seen any kind of announcement.

With the so called "offical" news, I'm sure we will be hearing from someone representing the GNR camp very soon. If we don't hear anything soon, I would speculate that GH II could be a smokescreen for something else. But thats just my opinion.

Yeah as far as i can see there has been no official announcement, the media sites are hunting for information, the only information available exists on these boards, most of which is rumours. Everyone is stealing everyone elses false information. I dont know where the hell the launch thing came from, but the rest of that article is meerly refering to the events surrounding last years greatest hits.

The band knows about the frustration and confusion, but they are not responsible for every stupid rumor that comes up and they can't react to every single rumor. No need to spam anyone.

this article uses the term "to us"
http://www.therockradio.com/2005/11/guns-n-roses-settle-for-gr-hits-ii.html
however, it's the same article on blabbermouth, except to launch is change ta' "to us" and they aren't launch.

Maybe they want to put Axl on pressure to deliver CD...it seems serious. Axl, Axl where are you? Get it the ring if you are a man, because your record company owns you
lol...it seems like a "ready to rumble" fight between Axl and his record company from the begining. He doesn't deliver the record, they put a GH, he su them, but he looses Then, after a period of calm and silence, he still doesn't release the album, they threat him with a? new GH? album...and so on...you know the story... It's a never ending process... silence -threat- force release- court case etc....
