This gets more and more confusing by the day! If this is another greatest hits which I personally dont think it is, then why has there been nothing from Axl, Management or ex band members to oppose it or deny it? It does not make any sense at all! Mike

Well if it is a matter of meeting contractual obligations, that could be the "outside disturbance" (or one of them at least) that Richard alluded to.
It just seems unusal to me that there hasn't been any statement by Merck and/or Axl's camp

I have a feeling Axl wants to leave Geffen. If I'm not mistaken Axl's contract with Geffen ends soon.
Somebody find out when the contract ends. Then I believe we'll get Chinese Democracy.
that would be very interesting indeed. anyone??

Contracts are usually based on releases...
They're not athletes.

I was always under the impression that the contract with Geffen still included demands for an album full of 'new material'. However, that could very well be based on something I heard in passing five years ago now. Maybe someone with a better knowledge of the situation can chime in?

Pilferk, I seem to recall you knowing the answer to this question (well, these types) - what would be the theoretical deadline to submit advertising for a product that goes on sale Dec 20th? (Which I assume ads would run in the Sunday, Dec 18th flyers for)
