Quote
"CD is not just any album. It's the ultimate snapshot of egomania, betrayal, and personal vendetta. It's a byword for self-indulgence and obsession. If CD does hit the shelves in 2006, it will bring to a close the most expensive and covoluted saga the rock'n'roll industry has ever seen."

"What's often forgotten about the CD saga is the underlying reason why Rose has taken so long. While his actions can be interpreted as pure laziness or apathy, it's more likely that the exact opposit is true. Quite simply, Rose has set out to create the ultimate rock'n'roll album. If he succeeds in achieving it, the frosty criticism he has had to endure since 1994 will melt into unconditional praise. If he fails, it seems invitable that his mythology will shatter and his long-suffering fanbase will sadly drift away. But for now,, with CD still a promise on a press release rather than an album on your local music store's shelf, Rose remains a legend frozen in time. The world continues to wait."

i really liked this piece. very well written, i especially like the ending. true words.

Great article - thanks for posting!? Not quite as accurate as it could be in certain spots, but it nicely plays up both the dramas past and present, not to mention the building hype surrounding Axl and the ever-looming release of Chinese Democracy...

I agree, there were definetly some inaccuracies and the guy misconstrued alot of things, but it was one of the fairest and detailed articles about GNR that I've read.

Was that written by two different people? The first half of the article is quite critical of and dispersive of blame on Axl. The last half actually is quite complimentary. A better writer perhaps would better unify the message of the piece and avoid too many quotes from an obviously biased ex-member in Slash. Was there any mention of the bitterly divisive lawsuit?

Pretty good review in my opinion. One of the reasonably accurate reviews, instead of the normal Axl Rose, Josh Freese, Paul Huge, Robin Finck and Dizzy articles...it is actually up-to-date with the last tour and the new tracks. Pretty cool.
