Couldn't draw flies to shit eh? Very articulate.

Aside from the fact that they sold out MSG and did alright at other venues with very little promotion, a 9 year absence, and no new album which ain't too bad, what the hell make you think this is made up as it's on the official Rock in Rio Lisbon site?

@#$%Muther

Yeah, couldn't draw flies on shit.

They sold out MSG. I know that. I was there. However, that gauges NOTHING. Vanilla Ice could sell out MSG.... NYC is so fucking big, and populated, that it wouldn't make a lick of difference.

How come the crowds in other markets like Boston, and Pittsburgh, and Chicago, and Detroit BIG markets, were so piss poor in contrast to MSG...? Those cities are pretty big.

That's about the dumbest thing I've ever read. MSG no big deal to sell out? Okay. A band coming back after being gone for ten years, with a completely different line up and with no new album to put a face or sound to the band coming back and selling out venues is no big deal? The reasons above are why the smaller venues didn't sell, but they were still able to sell out arenas, when most "big" bands are still playing theaters.

I guess lots of us have two questions:
- Do you know if that Lisbon date is part of a bigger tour?
- Will there be any US date before Lisbon?

Enjoy the show european fans!! Cool

Not to curb your enthusiasm but who cares? It will probably be just the usual thing: play afd then disapear into the abyss for another year.
Without a album it fails to exite me.

The plan is to play a few less AFD, and a few more UYI songs

I wonder if any new songs going to be debuted, or will we have, by then, heard new songs. That's the question.

Without Chinese Democracy out by May I dont really see the big picture in doing more shows than theyve already done without the album so to speak.

Is that means that they will not play new songs? I mean, really new songs, not Madagascar, The Blues, etc...  confused nervous

Funny how something 7 months off is creating such a firestorm. I'm with the Punk, we ought get a warm-up gig or the album prior to this. Given the date of the show, I think it's safe to say most live GNR activity would likely be in Europe for the duration of the year.
As for UYI songs to add, I see "Don't Cry" and "Estranged." I can't see them going deeper into that part of the catalouge.

And now, under Mysteron's advice I'm going to get into a drunken stupor, I am no longer responsible for my actions beer drool

FYI...
Billboard.com is also reporting the RiR gig in their Billboard Bits section.  When it's on Billboard, MTV tends to pick it up pretty quickly, so we may hear more about this in the mainstream press.
Billboard also broke the UYI release date in '91..all the other press said "According to Billboard..." in their stories.
Thanks to Myst and Billboard, my last doubts as to the veracity of this story have been pretty well dispelled at this point.
