Before everyone starts buying their palne tickets, please remember that you are taking a huge financial gamble.  If Azl doesn't show, you're screwed.

That's true. But the same goes for all concerts.

But it's a festival so there'll be more bands playing that day. Hopefully many cool bands with GN'R headlining. Smiley

One tour was cancelled in 2002, the August tour didn't have any major problems. It's not like he's gonna cancel every tour/show because of something that happened in 2002.....

Axl doesn't show? You mean he's not very reliable? Wink
I got stung twice by ticketmaster over the 2 cancelled UK shows, bucketheads illness then work to be finished on CD (yeah right).
But I did get to see them at Leeds and Docklands and it was well worth the wait (And I've seen them before at Wembley Stadium and Milton Keynes bowl in the 90s).
I just hope if they do the show, they play some new stuff.

I don't know whats more pathetic.... the fact that someone made this story up, or the fact that you all are buying it, hook, line, and sinker.

What a bunch of idiots.

However, if it is true, I give Axl credit. He is a big deal in Brazil.... he will do good numbers there.... It beats barely being able to draw flies on shit here in America.

ok, so if someone believes in this and this will turn out to be fraud, then the "someone" is an idiot. but what if this is true?? so in that case can we assume you to be the most stupid poster on this board 'cause you didn't believe it althought it was announced on official rir site?

I really do think (seriously! lol) that we should find a way to inform GNR and managemnt that they have a gig booked, so that they can tell us otherwise, sooner rather than later!! :-)

Estranged............The Guns n' Roses Story

« Reply #90 on: November 06, 2003, 12:51:14 PM »

I think that logic would indicate that the album will not only be out by May 30, 2003, but that it will have been out long enough for peopel to have absorbed it fully.  By that I mean that at least we should have a single, a video, a controversy of some kind and a few tv interviews with the band prior to this concert.  There would be just no reason to play the old setlist anymore, and they won't play all new songs to a crowd that hasn't had a chance to listen to the new material and develop an appreciation for it.

Disclaimer:  Of course this is logic and GNR has never followed logic.

I am optomistic about this.

Disclaimer:  I was optomostic about the 2001 tour.

I agree Ty. This is very good news. and I think we are finally going to lead to something.

If this is the case then I see warmup gigs coming. Maybe not here in the USA but then they might. Europe could be cool.

The next 6-7 months could be interesting. It would be hard to believe that Axl would not release something before this show.

I really hope this is it.

Headling the second day of RIO is great promotion. There is plenty to do between now and then. It would also be great promotion for a headlining summer USA festival tour.

Time for the album to sink in.

 ok

I will actually say that Tyrod hit the nail on the head--logical to release album? Yes. Is Axl logical? No. beer

Is there anything else you can tell us?
Do you hate getting these questions as much as I hate asking 'em? Embarrassed

OOOOO man, whats that line?

Just when im out, they pull me back in.

this is great, im gonna see if i can hop a flight over to portugal with my brother or something.  It is starting to make sense now.  Chinese Democracy should definitely be out by may 30. it HAS to be. they have 7 months to grow some balls and release it.  IT FINALLY GIVES THEM A DEADLINE.  then this could start the world tour. Welcome to the jungizlle!!!!

Isnt it funny that 2 months ago a poster on this board said that he would wait until May 30 (I?m almost sure that was the date he said), and if the album wasnt out by then he would go to LA and try to talk to Axl or some shit like that? Do you guys remember it, he even said it was the most important thread ever in this board  Tongue

Yeah, couldn't draw flies on shit.

They sold out MSG. I know that. I was there. However, that gauges NOTHING. Vanilla Ice could sell out MSG.... NYC is so fucking big, and populated, that it wouldn't make a lick of difference.

How come the crowds in other markets like Boston, and Pittsburgh, and Chicago, and Detroit BIG markets, were so piss poor in contrast to MSG...? Those cities are pretty big.

Chicago and Boston both had good turnouts. Philly sold out or was damn close (of course the they missed that show and killed the tour, but it was sold out) and added the 2nd night. Toronto had about 15K (I was there) and London sold out (small town/venue, so maybe 9-10K tops, but it was apparently the highest grossing show ever for that venue, or so the local news claimed).

Fuck Detroit, it's the home of Feminem, the Moby & Hand-puppet molesting little bitch.

If GNR didn't play shitty sites like Boise they'd do fine. Best bet:

Do RIR4. Do another festival or two. Do some other Euro dates solo. Germany, France, Spain... head back to London, do the Docklands again.

Then go back to North America, do 12 dates tops. New York, Boston, Chicago, Toronto, one other Canadian city where a riot hasn't been started (I guess that leaves London again, but it's a university town and is dead in the summer, or MAYBE try risking Montreal, heh, but the Quebecois can hold grudges like no others), etc.

Finish it off in South America.

That should be the first leg of a world tour IMO. Hit cities where you know the reception will be good. It'll be good publicity and build up interest again.

And someone make sure Axl knows where he's going. Tell him he won a free week's vacation in Portugal and ship his ass there in advance Tongue
