I dont remember if there was an actual quote from Axl, but there was the belief that the MSG show was the best that the new line-up performed at, as well as the crowd energy. Maybe they are just trying to capture a bit of whatever clicked that night.

If nothing else, they last performed in NYC, why not start over again there also?

I would say no, but then again I didn't think they'd play ANY warmup shows so it just goes to show that you never know with this band.
