Here Today...And Back Tommorrow

« on: April 12, 2006, 08:47:24 PM »

Sanctuary is a record label aswell as a management company (although they do much more of the latter). Perhaps the reason that
Geffen and Interscope have denied knowledge of who will release the album is because the band is'nt with either of them anymore.

This could, if true (and it is pure speculation) be a very bad sign, as Sanctuary will just be grateful to have G'N'R on their roster, so they will let them mess around with experimental tours etc (which the upcoming one may well be, although I hope and believe this is not the case) forever. And due to the many many artists they manage, Sanctuary can probably afford to let Axl record for much longer too, if he wants.  peace

In the 80s Geffen was its own seperate record company, they were bought by Interscope who were then bought by Universal which is part of the Universal Media Group. Right now Universal are the ones who are probably dealing with the CD as there is alot of money involved, Geffen, Interscope and Universal are basically the same!

Nature of the world we live in unfortunatly

Its possible because thats the label they are on. They are even listed on the Universal website: http://new.umusic.com/Artists.aspx?Index=2

I just re-purchased the entire GN'R catalog, and it's got all the old marking and stuff: but nowhere on it is there a Sanctuary logo.  And near the hole in the middle are holographic Universal Music stamps.

yea sanctuary are in the doldrums. jason pierce of spiritualized noted to a fan that the new spiritualized record will probably be out in the fall, but it could be in trouble due to sanctuarys problems.

saying that, with beyonce on their books anything is possible. if she has a good summer off the back of that tune from the pink panther everything could be sweet for sanctuary again.

but another point is - im not sure how much it actually affects or could be affected by guns/axl. as has been said, they arent signed to sanctuary record label, rather their publishing house.

Look, Sanctuarys problems will have little or no effect on the band..... they are not on the record label, this is the part of the company that has been causing all the problems. Axl and Co are only managed by Sanctuary, Sanctuary management is an entirely different part of the company. The only thing that would have hurt Sanctuary is the purchase of the Publishing rights for new and old songs. Once CD gets released though they should see a nice steady flow of $$$ coming from the new material!

At the end of the day, with CD nearly being finished and $12 or so million of Universal musics money invested in the project, if Axl has any problems... Universal will bail him out!
