Heh. I actually decided to read "A Scanner Darkly" on the advice of Uncle Axl when that Rolling Stone interview came out. I had always meant to read something by Philip K. Dick, I was in between books at that time and the movie is forthcoming, so the timing was perfect. And I have to say, I really enjoyed the hell out of that book. It wasn't what I expected, but it was definitely worth reading and I am intrigued to see how they handle certain things in the movie version.
Thanks Axl!
I would recommend the "Otherland" series by Tad Williams. There are 4 books: just read the first one to check it out (City of Golden Shadows) and I guarantee you will want to read the others. Picking other books at random off the top of my head, I would add "Franny and Zooey" by J.D. Salinger, "The Book of Daniel" by E.L. Doctorow and "Wouldn't it Be Nice?" by Brian Wilson.

How about Quit Letting Your Fans Down and Release CD after 15yrs. This is one of my favorite. I hate to be so negative but I hope Axl reads this.

The book that he stole his album title from ( Chinese Democracy written by Andrew J. Nathan). He's probably already read it though.
that's the main thing that gets me about when he sent the offspring the c&d order when they were gonna call Splinter, Chinese Democracy (you snooze you lose). not only can you not copyright or trademark a title, but he didn't even come up with the damn title himself!

the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan
Do you want him to disappear for another 10 yrs!?? That series is enormous!! Personally, I'm waiting for the series to end so I can read it all the way through.?
Other then that, I agree with the recommendation?
Didn't thought about that
I had read like ten books when i decided to quit and wait for it to be finished

i think the author has started writing prequels for the series - so we could be waiting for a very long time for chinese democracy to come out. maybe axl can change the name of the album to 'the wheel of time'.
Didn't thought about that

Yeah, there are alot of parrells between that series and Chinese Democracy. I think before the last 2 books, they've been saying "It'll only go 1 or 2 more books, guaranteed"
"CD will be out in another year, absolutely"
I also stopped reading a few books ago. When I got to the point where I was hallucinating the plots and characters during the birth of my daughter, I figured it was PROBABLY time to take a short break. I have to reread all of them every time a new one comes out, and it was getting ridiculous!
When I have CD and the last book, my life will be complete...nothing more to wait on the edge of my seat for!
