I chatted with a musician, on another board today, and he seems to think that GNR are going to play a few surprise gigs in the U.S. before playing at RIR!  I am hoping that we, on this board, would get some sort of early notification of a gig, so as to make quick travel plans to attend (we are the heart and soul of the fans)!  I assume, that NYC/LA will be two of the spots for the warm-up gigs?  Has anyone else heard anything regarding this? Wow thats amazing news... lets hope they play in upper america for my sake.so i can quickly pack my bags and head over the border. Do u know if this would be small club shows or surprise concerts because i dont remember them doing this ever before?  peace Rocking out (if its true)

So, is there any tread left on the tires? Or at this point would it be like throwing a hot dog down a hallway?

They traditionally play a warm-up gig or two before their tours, so it wouldn't be surprising at all.

I would not say news, just a rumour, but one that sounds possible. ?I would love if GNR would have an exclusive show at a small venue for the first 1000 members on the boards that register or something like that!! ?That would kick ass, and show the world that GNR loves it's loyal fans!!! beer

erose, wouldn't you rather have Axl work out whatever kinks BEFORE that awesome show?  I'd rather have a mediocre warm-up rather than him fucking up at Rio.  I'm sure you feel the same way regarding Rio beer

What exactly are these rumblings? I prefer to see the evidence myself before jumping to conclusions....

Just a rumour a this point.  I think the guy that told me was pretty sure, though, that they would do some sort of warm-up gig before RIO.  I would assume as much myself.  yes

You have to think, LA, NYC or Las Vegas if it does happen.

It's obvious that NY, LA, or Vegas are the most likely candidates. I think it'd be cool to play somewhere out of the ordinary like Nashville, Chicago, Miami, somewhere not expected...

I don't really think it matters where they play because we sure as hell aren't going to know about it until after/maybe the day before.  If they play a small gig or two, it's going to be under a fake name so it doesn't attract that much attention.

I still say a 'Hookers N' Blow' show would be a cool 'smokescreen' for a surprise appearance.
