Juanes - Mi Sangre

Some of you have probably heard the ultra-catchy single "La Camisa Negra", but I must say this is a brilliant album as a whole, too! To those of you who don't know of him, Juanes is a Colombian singer-songwriter, and his guitar-driven pop rock album Mi Sangre has been a huge hit around the world. At the moment it's actually No. 2 on the official Finnish charts

I don't know how big a part the Spanish language is in me liking the album - many Germans e.g. dislike Rammstein because of the stupid lyrics, whereas most foreigners dig them because of the certain exoticness. I know there are lots of Spanish speaking people here, how big is Juanes in your country and what do you think of him / the music personally? Is he considered a legitimate artist or just pop?

Juanes is God, well at least to the girls here I have a friend and she went to his concert told me that was the greatest thing she has ever been to, then again i think she haven seen any GNR concert 
I like some Juanes songs, but that Camisa Negra is just ok I think you can hear his early albums are better, more rock influenced and less pop, but hey everyone feel free to listen this guy, great singer 

I hope Dead Horse doesnt read this he's gonna freak out

Of all the people in the world, I would've never expected Skeletor to become a Juanes fan?

I guess one could say he's not on the same league as Ricky Martin or Enrique Iglesias since he's not just the image, but somehow similar.

To be brutally honest, I haven't heard the whole thing, just a few songs.

Last year radio stations and MTV aired that song/video all the time. It became huge. This is the kind of song people into "Operacion Triunfo" (pop idol - american idol) did get into. He's at least more talented since he (apperantly) write the songs (music and lyrics).

I don't really like him. I guess I prejudge anything that comes out in spanish since it doesn't really interest me. Yeah, I know, I'm spanish and don't like spanish music...how weird...

Did he really reached the 2nd spot on the official finnish charts?

Here in Peru he's got a lot of airplay.  Juanes rocks, because he can write good songs, and can play his custom telecasters as well. He has a unique sound. And something else, he seems to be a humble guy too.

Heh, what can I say... I guess it also has to do with the fact my gf is a Spanish major, so I'm more inclined to get into anything Spanish. It is cool to have a band we both dig though, we have such different tastes in music it isn't really that common

I can identify with that. By default I'm not interested in any bands singing in Finnish, bar a few exceptions. That's kind of what I was saying in my original post; if Spanish were my mother tongue, I probably wouldn't be that interested in Juanes. Or maybe even if he sang in English. But in this case, the Spanish kind of adds a certain exotic touch to it, that makes the whole package work.

Fo shizzle. He's spent three weeks in the charts now, entered at No. 6, dropped down to 8th spot and this week he went up to No. 2 Who knows, could be number one next week...

Well Juanes is good latin rock oriented pop, the good thing about this guy is that he writes his songs, music and lyrics, <so well,  thats rock n roll 

Anyway i hope you, Mr Dick Purple, dont get to serious with Juanes music or im gonna tell my friend Mustaine about  your new musical tastes.

Juanes is from my Country, I'm colombian.
I don't like his music at all, his current style is too pop, he used to have a real rock band a few years ago, that plays more decent music... however I am happy his getting bigger, just because he's from my country.
But honestly I don't care about his music.
