Here Today...

the fm bit rate is less then 128kbs it is actuall 64kbs so 128 would be more then enough to play over the air waves..

FM bitrates actually vary between 64 kbps and 96 kbps.

And I'm not saying 128 kbps "isn't enough", I'm saying it will sound like shit.

dunkin donuts

im not going to get into an audio debate with you but the fm bit rate is less then 128kbs it is actuall 64kbs so 128 would be more then enough to play over the air waves.. im sort of an audiophile you could say in fact its my life

True! The quality of a standard FM radio is very low! So many radio stations in the country are still analog, very few stations are 100% digital. If radio was to go to the "HD" era, it will take a very long time before stations start broadcasting in HD and it is for the fact will cost a ton of money to convert the station to digital. Plus another side not stations running automation are either a sat. feed,(not the best quality) or running music off of a harddrive and most songs are not even ripped at 192 because of the size of harddrives.

They've play it already twice, on Sunday morning!  Keep responding, because I think they are measuring response this weekend, and this should help increase the spins of already released GNR tracks in the future.  I would imagine, IRS is winning over some doubters about the third or fourth time they hear it.

how are u responding?  Calls or emails?  WAAF is a great station.  Always have played GNR.  They usually have a snide comment about Axl but it usually doesn't bother me because theyalways follow it up with we know he is fuckin crazy asshole, but if u were startin a band would you want anyone else to be your front man than Axl, exactly.

I think either method of contact works.  I think it's nice that they support GNR--in fact I love it!

I was actually in Boston this weekend and heard the song on the radio. I gotta say, it was pretty fucking sweet. My friends didn't dig it too much though.

i know they played it about 7 hours ago (8PM EST). Haven't listened since, but i'm sure they're still playing it (as they had been playing it almost every hour before then)...

WAAF has played IRS the following times in the last 24 hours. This is from yes.com which shows a radio stations playlist hour by hour

2-19-06 at 4:52am
2-19-06 at 10:30am
2-19-06 at 12:53pm
2-19-06 at 5:06pm
2-19-06 at 7:25pm
2-19-06 at 9:53pm
2-20-06 at 12:56am

IRS is #5 on WAAF's top 100 songs
It will be interesting to see what other stations are playing IRS. The Radio and Records Top 50 will be posted Wednesday night so we should know if it has gotten any major adds to other stations arcross the US.

A true fan - no, not that 'truefan' (where is he?)

« Reply #217 on: February 20, 2006, 08:34:11 AM »

IRS is still #5 on WAAF's "top 10" list of played tracks.  It looks like they haven't played it since 12:56 AM, however, they've only played like 4 or 5 songs an hour since then?  (and in one hour, only one song?) - i'm guessing maybe they do some syndicated programming or PSA type programming at that time?

(Because, usually, there's about 12-15 songs played per hour)

I am in Maryland and over the weekend, a DJ said he had heard "IRS" and liked it and they would be able to play it soon, but won't play it right now.  The station is 98 rock in Baltimore.  I am trying to get info on the "won't play it right now" thing.  But Philly is hating Axl as usual.  Just some FYI for anyone....
