AXl toured with no album and a new band.

U put Brian Johnson out there without Angus and malcolm? I guarantee people dont show up.

wait till CD comes out and blows up and then post about some ACDC.

they are a great band but are a safe band.
they never go away from "the formula"

Like I said ACDC are a fun rock band but are bout as deep as a papercup.

they only have some of the best rock anthems ever and some of the best guitar anthems.... Just because they don't sneak in a ballad or add special performers like teddy zig zag or dizzy reed doesn't mean they don't have depth... They are just who they are a kick asss rock n roll band.. For someone with no depth they have as many if not more songs on classic rock rotation then gnr..

I wish new guns had a song with an opening like Thunderstruck

From a subjective point of view, in my heart, I know which I prefer...But is this even a legitimate question? "Formula" or no,
a 30 year career in an environment as disposable as the music industry is a stunning achievement.

Check it out

ACDC are great to party to, great to workout to, great to drive to but its just not very deep, emotional or diverse.

Fine, take Angus Young and have brand new guys around him and they wouldnt draw shit.

Im tired of this Bon Scott bullshit.

He died so he is like Kurt Cobain and overrated to hell and back.

Brian Johnson is an amazing frontman, better than Bon in my opinion and there is no way they could replace him these days.

If GNR stayed together this wouldnt even been an argument.

U take the 4 best ACDC records, u take the 4 best GNR records.

take the best 6 year ACDC period, take the best 6 year GNR period and I say GNR wins pretty easily.

I dont think anyone is holding their breath for a new ACDC record like they are a GNR record.

that is so true, how many bands can claim such a fan base with that tremedous amount of longevity?

Gnr ruled their time, there is no doubt, maybe a few bands like the beatles were bigger... Gnr's accomplishments from 87-93 touring an album sales were out of this world... ?But they faded out after they broke up..

keep calling it ac/dc and the fans would still come, the name is bigger then anyone member is.. people want to say I saw ac/dc..

How important you feel bon scott was is your opinion, but their original singer sucked in comparison....

that's because you didn't need to wait 15 years for a new ac/dc album.. A new gnr album is like a babe ruth rookie card, it is rare

Bon wasnt their original singer? I totally lost u, Im sayin Brian is better than Bon Scott.

that doesnt matter though Mike, U cant penalize ?a group cause they stayed together longer.

U take the best 6 year stretch of ACDC, take the best 6 year stretch of GNR, take the 4 biggest ACDC records compared to the 4 GNR records.

thats how u compare and overall GNR are bigger.

No ACDC song right now is on a WTTJ level. a couple are close but not quite.

I think they went through 4 singers total, I could be wrong.. They definetly had one guy before bon scott, but it was short lived... They didn't like him and he was tossed

Gnr 3 biggest hits WTTJ, SCOM and PC are bigger than any three biggest hits by AC DC.

I want to make it clear that Im not shitting on ACDC or tryin to take anything away from them.

GNR's 4 albums have sold more than ACDC's 4 best records although its probably very fuckin close. NO greatest hits or Live records allowed by the way.

Axl and Slash are more famous than Brian Johnson and Angus also.

I think it's all about personal opinion... I love thunderstruck so it's right up there with wttj.. The guitar is awesome, the opening

But I would rate the above mentioned song higher then many illusion one songs... Bad obsession , bad apples, garden of eden, dust n bones. you ain't the first, back off bitch... That album is loaded with filler, and some of the best songs too

I have no idea how well known those guys are... I think the names of axl n slash are more famous.. I wouldn't say it's the case in australia but I could be wrong..

I agree that gnr's four best albums probably have sold more, I am pretty damn sure to be honest.. I think if gnr never ended though their album count would have been very unstable over the years from say 94-99....

I look at afd to the illusions as that super wave many bands have hit.. They have a time period kind of like a boy band where anything they put out in a certain time period would sell millions each no problem.. Something like a creed, 4 number one hits off one album.. Once that tiem period is over you're lucky to go double platinum..

No they didn't!
If you combined Appitite, Lies, The Illusions albums and The Spaghetti Incident? you would just barley (if at all) surpass what Back In Black Sold by itself.

Guns are my favorite but ACDC is more liked, and defetnly have been more consistent then gnr. Its hard to rate Guns high on lists sometimes because they were only really around from 87-93. while Acdc have been around since the 70's and keep goin.

Well back in black sold 16 million, afd sold 15 million lies a few million illusions about 14 million total and TSI about 1-2 million.. of course those aren't exact number but that's the older numbers from the states..

Gnr was bigger and ac dc or any other band for that matter will be bigger than gnr was in the early 90s. You can claim ac dc is bigger now but during 90-93 no band will ever again be as big as guns n roses was. It depends on that time frame you are talking. But gnr were much much much bigger than ac cd at that point int ime

nou doubt that gnr were the biggest at their period, but ac/dc is bigger as a whole with consistency.. Both were huge, I guess that is the only thing you can say for sure.

World Wide Numbers =
Back In Black - 60 000 000
AFD - 30 000 000

and illusions and SI? don't rank on the list.
