The last AC/DC album "Stiff Upper Lip" had three charting singles..........it was released in 2001.

This is 2006 not 2001. The claim was made that right now AC DC is bigger which I disagree with.

right now ac/dc is bigger.. ANy venue that ac/dc will be playing will be sold out, that is not the case for new gnr.. The 2002 NA tour will back up that fact.. Ac/dc doesn't need a new album to sell out any venue, axl rose does

No doubt GnR were and are bigger than ACDC. Ask 100 people who the lead singer, lead guitarist, 5 songs and first major album for each band. Way more people will be able to answer the GnR question. Very few girls know Bon Scott and Brian Johnson, anyone with a TV or Radio know Axl Rose.

but ask 100 people to name a current GnR member besides axl and i think you'll be lucky to find 1 that can do it. ? hihi

but still, i don't think you can make a major case one way or the other. both are great bands that had a ton of success. both continue to be played in heavy rotation on rock stations, and both have songs that will live on forever.

But they'll have a new album, even though they won't play many songs off of it.

That is funny since every venue thus far? the new gnr is playing this year is selling out very fast.

But ac/dc doesn't need it, that's the point... They don't need to close the vmas or get mtv involved their following is just amazing

No you didnt, you said any venue. Also gnrs NA tour from 2002 a lot of shows sold out but you put AC DC in Idaho or some of those boonie places and they dont sell out either.

Look at it like this.  If you had a tour for gnr with no album and just bill it as the return of the orginal gnr with Axl, Izzy, Slash, Duff and Matt and they sell out easily.

I know mike; I was just pointing out that they would have an album out regardless of whether they need one or not to sell out shows.

Yep, Mike's got a point. ?Angus said himself on BTM that they could launch a tour anywhere and they would sell out. ?I'm absolutely positive that he's right. ?Axl, for the future, DON'T play any shows in Idaho or North Dakota, or on some floating casino in Mississippi.

but you're not comparing apples to apples.

if AC/DC broke up, disappeared for 10 years, formed other bands, and THEN got back together for a reunion tour it would be fucking huge.

yeah i think it was in 91 with metallica, the black crows and pantera.

yeah Ive downloaded that whole thing. it says it is Monsters Of Rock 91.
Pantera, Black Crowes, Metallica & AC/DC played in that order.

I have seen AC/DC three times.? Each time sold out.? Their last tour was one of the must successful tours of that year.? ?One of the higest grossing.? GNR's was a focking joke.? I bought AC/DC's last album.? I liked it, cause it is AC/DC.? Funny how one of the most influential bands ever to GNR is getting so dismissed here.? right now, I would go see AC/DC over nu GNR.? Saw nu GNR twice.? They suck compared to AC/DC.? Lots of hot girls go to their shows too!

GNR

Acdc as good as they are basically found a formula and never ever went away from it.

If u have heard one ACDC album, u have heard them all pretty much.

ACDC tour on their back catalog but their new albums dont do very good.

bands have to grow and be more diverse and ACDC are not that.

they have some ok songs, lyrically they are as bout as deep as a cokecan though.

And GNR's last tour consisted of all new material?Huh  I mean sure they didn't have an album, but for abusing a back catalog...Axl sure stuck to Appetite pretty closely.  I mean that is the point of touring.....play the songs that people want to hear.  I think it only worked the other way for Bob Dylan who pretty much just played what he wanted to.

I have to agree with you here.........the two AC/DC shows I went to in 2000 and 01 weren't in the biggest of places and they still both sold out.  Amazing shows with no problems either.  So many girlies flashing boobies and 4 decades of fans going nuts all together having a GREAT time.  The one new Guns show I went to in 2002 was Philly......nuff said bub!

AXl toured with no album and a new band.

U put Brian Johnson out there without Angus and malcolm? I guarantee people dont show up.

wait till CD comes out and blows up and then post about some ACDC.

they are a great band but are a safe band.
they never go away from "the formula"

Like I said ACDC are a fun rock band but are bout as deep as a papercup.

Yes I did say any venue.. I thought you got what I meant by the NA tour... Either way both have done amazing things and have big followings..

Well if you put the original gnr back together that would be something else.. I have no idea what people's hunger is regarding gnr here in America, but if greatest hits is an indication then it's still pretty big ,much smaller then 91 but bigger then say 98-99

Why would you label Brian as the main draw of AC/DC??? ?Angus is the Axl in this comparison as far as draws to their respective band. ?I personally feel Bon was a way better frontman than Brian, but as I've just stated, Angus brought the crowd in and kept them there for 30+ years. ?As far as GNR goes and yes I love GNR......they'll never attain what they could have if they would have kept the lineup going and kept touring throughout the shitty era of the 90's. ?As long as Axl doesn't tour in the states, he's going to be golden. ?Once he hits the US.......it just ain't gonna happen. ?GNR's tour will be mediocore at best. ?AC/DC has consistantly toured and toured and toured and can sell out any stadium they play be it in the states or anywhere else in that world. ?

And anyone who was in Philly during the 02 show can tell you.........they were at the FU center offering tickets for the show the next night for only $10 because it sold very very poorly.
