Nambis, I don't know where the hell you live, but that isn't how ACDC fans are where I live.

Someone mentioned that ACDC lost a frontman.  When did that happen?

Dolph, Bon Scott was their singer up until Highway to Hell.  Then he died because he drank too much.  Brian Johnson took over from Back In Black-present.

So since BIB is one of the best albums, then Brian Johnson is credited more as to making ACDC more successful over GNR and AFD?

Well, err, not exactly.  Bon was the heart and soul of AC/DC.  Brian helped make AC/DC big worldwide, and helped make metal more radio friendly.

Thank god no one from GNR has died (past members and current).

Seriously, GNR are lucky and I think even they'd admit that.

No doubt GnR were and are bigger than ACDC. Ask 100 people who the lead singer, lead guitarist, 5 songs and first major album for each band. Way more people will be able to answer the GnR question. Very few girls know Bon Scott and Brian Johnson, anyone with a TV or Radio know Axl Rose.

Biggest GnR video = November Rain

Biggest ACDC video = "Money Talks" or maybe "Thunderstruck"

Seriously, GnR totally different league.

This is a quote from HTGTH's frontpage:

"Appetite For Destruction still sells around 5000 copies per week in the USA."

Hope that helps somehow? Tongue

AFD doesn't sell 5,000 copies per week in the US. There is no way. If that was true then it would be on the Billboard 200 still. It isn't. It probably sells close to 1,000 copies a week 2,000 tops. But no way 5,000 or even 4,000.

HTGTH quote is wrong. I'm right.

Even though AC/DCs biggest albulm has sold considerably more that GnRs biggest albulm. no

and their biggest would be either Back in Black or Highway to Hell, they get on adverts all the time, a bit like Welcome to the Jungle.

The power of MTV. GN'R were a product of the '80s. In the '70s, if you didn't read the NME or whatever there was no media coverage of rock bands. In Guns' case, Sweet Child O' Mine and November Rain got major airplay on MTV and such (and still do!).

AC/DC played to 1 million Rusiian teenagers on an abandoned airfield in 1991 or '92. The story, as I recall, was that young Russians had helped stop an attempted Commuist coup over the newly democratic leadership and Boris Yeltsin organised a free concert as a reward (anyone who can remember better feel free to correct me, but that's what I think it was).

By the way, ask any AC/DC fan to choose between Bon and Brian and they'll say Bon every time. Ask a casual metalhead to name the AC/DC singer and they'll say Brian Johnson. AC/DC built on their success with Bon and were therefore more commercially successful with Brian.

And fuck you Nambis! I have a mullet! hihi

AC/DC is without a doubt the more popular band now a days.
I see someone wearing a Guns Shirt maybe once every couple days, I see someone wearing a AC/DC shirt a few times a day!

Back in GN'Rs heyday I wasn't old enough to remember but I still doubt they were bigger then AC/DC was. When people describe AFD they call it the Best Album of The Late 80's when they describe BIB they call it the best album of all-time. I like Guns ALOT more then AC/DC but there is no chance that GN'R is the bigger band.

Oh and I heard that AFD sold 30 million worldwide.
Thats the number I heard... They've probably sold around 16.5 million in the US since it's numbers where last updated (Jan 05).

The person who said that Chinese Democracy will sell more then BIB... rofl
There is no chance that CD will come even close to what AFD sold not to mention BIB. I'd be VERY suprised if Chinese Democracy sold 5 million let alone 20. With the state of Rock in the mainstream these days Axl should be very happy if CD goes 3x platnium and has any top 30 hits.

Funny how there's more GN'R in Velvet Revolver then there is in Guns N' Roses.

Meanwhile, GN'R's debut record, Appetite For Destruction, released in 1987, marches on. The second biggest debut album in rock history (15 million copies at the last count), Appetite thirteen years later still sells a remarkable 5,000 to 6,000 copies per week - more than 200,000 units annually.

I disagree.  Just look at the IRS demo and how it charted. I didnt see any AC DC song on that in a long time

The last AC/DC album "Stiff Upper Lip" had three charting singles..........it was released in 2001.

This is 2006 not 2001. The claim was made that right now AC DC is bigger which I disagree with.
