This sounds great. I had a feeling their second album would be amazing, and Matt's description makes me really anticipate this album. Even though I didn't like CB, I knew these guys could come up with something great. I think CB was rushed, and thats why it isn't as good as it could've been.

An observation: I've noticed that people completely ignore me in this section. I guess I've pissed off all the VR freaks who didn't like some of the things I said in the GNR section.

James, Paisan, I hear ya.? I agree with what you said, but I do like Contraband.? ?Eventhough I like it, I admit it was rushed and could have been much better.? However YGNR and Slither sound pretty good for the short amount of time.

slither to me is fucking awesome ,just the way the song starts of is great, the song is energy and rocks like a mofo..? I never get tired of cranking it in the car
Yeah, I really like that song also. The last time there was a family get together, all kinds of different music was being played. I put on CB and played Slither, and even my little cousins were digging it. The next time my whole family gets together like that, I'm gonna play all these new GNR demos and see the reaction.

That's cool... My family would be like mike still stuck in the 80's we see, I can't believe you are still chasing that nut axl rose around..  That would be more my cousins in their mid to late 30's..

Sounds great to me, I think the one thing CB was missing most was varieties, this is why the next album sounds great with lots of experimentation on it.

And it was a good sign that he said there was a great riff for Slash on there.

Psychologically, you could consider this a reunion tour because I`ve managed to find enough pieces of my mind in order to be with you here tonight - - Axl Rose, Chicago 2002

TODAY WE DID ONE THAT IS VERY HEAVY WITH A SICK GROOVE.
WITH SOME SYNTH KEYBOARD PART. ALA A BAND CALLED REFUSED
WHO WE ALL DIG.

They mentioned Refused in interviews before Contraband was released too....

"Illegal Eye,"...McKagan compares to "a Refused song, like an older punk rock song."

Remains to be seen if it's that much different from Contraband.

Well aside from the Refused influence, I think a Zeppelin/Prince style song would be quite different to Contraband, I don't really recall anything on CB to sound like Led Zeppelin.

Really looking forward to this album. beer

I have heard a couple peopel say that but I really don't see it... I thought there was alot of variety. There were straight up Gunsish hard rock tunes like STB and DLT.. Then there classic acoustic and almost psychadelic tunes like Alien and YGNR.  STPish songs like Ilegal I song and Big Machine.  Cheese like FTP lol....  I definately find Superhuman quite unique also...

That being said, I think we will see alot more on the next album...
