I know the piano piece you are talking about, it was also played during the intro to Nov. Rain at the last show of the tour at MSG.  It definetly sounded like a promising ballad song.  It also reminded me of the song October from U2.  Hopefully we will find out soon, if it was a new song or just a cover.   Undecided

guys, like I said earlier, that piano section you keep refeering to sounds like typical classical piano music.  download some chopin or something like that and you will see what I mean.

Axl isn't a piano virtuoso and I really doubt he wrote the intro to "this love" in classical style.  It's more likely that he's 'showing off' to the crowd.  You'll also notice he plays some of it, stops for audience response, plays more, stops, so on and so on

he's just playing some music he knows (no i don't know what it is), it's not the intro to "this i love"

if he was playing the intro to a new song, don't you think he would make it known, for all the other live songs he starts by saying something along the lines of "this is a new song"

My fear is that Axl is just messing around with a few piano licks on that bootleg, and he found something he liked, and decided to record it on an album... why do I fear this? because people will say "I told you so" and shit after it's released.

The classical sounding intro to November Rain from the 2002 tour could be part of a new song they were working on, perhaps This I Love.  I hope it is, that intro was very cool and epic sounding.

The part he plays after the asshole song and those fast parts when he pauses and looks at the crowd, but before the actual NR music starts is what I'm referring to

After listening to it.... it could well indeed be part of a new song, or it could be (as nambis said) some piece of classical music or something Axl was just messing around with; we haven't sufficient reason to believe one theory over another.

Maybe this is "This I Love" just a different section of the song.

You can only hear bits of it, it's from the makin' if Estranged, just basic Slash playing guitar over people talking and you can hear Axl whistling at the end:

http://rapidshare.de/files/15630995/09-guns_n_roses-unreleased_song_from_making_of_estranged-ksi.mp3.html

Or it could just be another song, but at that time the whole band didn't have many songs that both they and Axl knew, so who knows what song this could of ended up being.

This is BACK AND FORTH AGAIN from the first Snakepit album.? rant

no its not.

Yes it is. Maybe you should hear the Snakepit song.? Tongue

Well...The Asshole Song is NOT written by Axl Rose...try this

Nice try that's a jimmy buffet tune and these are the lyrics

Quote
Well I was drivin' down I-95 the other night.
Somebody nearly cut me right off the road.
I decided it wasn't gonna do any good to get mad.
So I wrote a song about him instead.
It goes like this...

Were you born an asshole?
Or did you work at it your whole life?
Either way it worked out fine
'cause you're an asshole tonight.

Yes you're an A S S H O L E...
And don't you try to blame it on me.
You deserve all the credit.
You're an asshole tonight.

You were an asshole yesterday.
You're an asshole tonight.
And I've got a feelin'
you'll be an asshole the rest of your life.

And I was talkin' to your mother
just the other night.
I told her I thought you were an asshole.
She said, "Yes. I think you're right."

And all your friends are assholes
'cause you've known them your whole life.
And somebody told me
you've got an asshole for a wife.

Were you born an asshole?
Or did you work at it your whole life?
Either way it worked out fine
'cause you're an aaaass...hole tonight.

Yeah songs can have the same title but be different.  An example?  Look at Dust in the Wind.  Guns N' Roses covered Todd Rundgren's Dust in the Wind.  Meanwhile, Kansas has a song called Dust in the Wind that is far far far more popular.  There are also like 300 songs called Heartbreaker.

Cool song Grin

Jimmy Buffet is a country singer

Axl's lyrics are:

"you are an asshole and everyone knows it. how much of an asshole nobody can say. but when you're an Asshole.....oh sorry wrong song!" ok

thats it. he played it at like every show in 2001-2002 so i doubt he'd sing it incorrectly the same way every time Roll Eyes

Jimmy Buffet is not country at all.  In fact, there is really know group you can put buffet in.   Its all feel good island/beach music.  So many classic songs.  Margaritaville is probably his biggest hit.  Alot of his songs are folky kind of like James Taylor, but better.  Nothing better then drinking some cold ones in the spring listening to Buffet.
