Hey guys,

I remember reading a lot of comments on the third guitarist thread and others that people really think Fortus is an awesome guitarist... some even arguing that he should be the lead guitarist over Robin... Does anyone know some non-GN'R music out there available on cd where Fortus is playing? I'm having a hard time picking him out on the '02 bootlegs (he does have a solo during Rocket Queen right?) and the demos (if he's even on them). I'd like to check out some more of his playing for myself...

By the same token, can anyone recommend some cds with Robin Finck playing? I'm correct that he's not on the NIN studio albums right?

Many thanks.

And sorry mods if this is on the wrong board...

Robin Finck was in NIN, so you might want to check them out. Like The Fragile or something like that.

if you mean has anyone emailed robin or richard- they are both apparently under 'gag order' regarding anything concrete as it relates to CD and the tour, so i imagine people wouldn't be getting responses until uncle axl makes his statement (whenever that will be)

Richard played Guitar for: N*Sync  hihi (seriously he did)

And Richard and Robin (and Buckethead at the time) shared solos, look at November Rain from 2002 shows they each had a solo each in the song.

I won't hold anything against someone.. Richard is a hired gun so his past mean nothing.. Dave from vr played with vanilla ice's band before vr.. people need to do whatever they can, not everyone lands a gig in a huge band..  One performance that I felt was bad by robin was his playing on the song CD -the solo- from the fan made videos (whichever show that was)

I think Richard plays on Stinson's last album? He also played with Psychadelic Furs... as someone pointed out, Robin, Richard, and Bucket each took a solo in November Rain in 2002, and IMO, Richard stole the song... Bucket's style didn't fit the song really, despite being technically more complex. Between Robin and Richard, I think Robin actually did the better job (on that particular song). So he is capable of doing some good shit.

And with the new songs, they'll each have their own parts.

Whoever said the guys are under a gag order, Richard does have the tour dates posted on his website.

all i can offer as a possible answer is that manangement feels  that it is not the responsiblity of the individual members to promote the shows on their personal websites-that falls with guns itself (Axl/Merck).

personally, i'm with you, i think the guys ought to be talking them up, but it may be a situation where they cant per axl's request Huh

Definitely check out the first two Love Spit Love albums (especially the first one -- I thought he played on the second one too, but I didn't see it listed on his website, so maybe not?).   In any event, his playing is great on those albums.  I saw him play in a 300 person club with Love Spit Love and he was a great showman, excellent guitarist, and a real nice guy to chat with.
