Zakk Wylde- Ozzy Osbourne/ Black Label Society
Dimebag Darrell- Pantera/ Damageplan
Dave Mustaine-Megadeth
Angus Young- AC/DC
Look at your selections
Angus is like the generic look of a Lead Guitarist. who can picture this guy when you think of a head banging tune? I mean i really am not a fan of AC/DC, i actually turn the station when they come on but he's one guitarist that is iconic for me.
Dimebag and Mustaine define Metal guitarists come-on, you think metal and Pantera and Megadeth would have to be on your list.
And who doesn't know Wylde's bull's eye guitar??!!!

Well yeah but if you think and dig a little Dimebag used to like Mays riffing and Mustaine on the other hand like more type of blues which I think it can easyly goes to perry and for angus I think also perry should fit more into style
What Im trying to say is that May is more iconic cause they have inflounced a lot of guitarrist including them.
Thats why my selection.

whereas my idea of Iconic is "when you think of a Rock guitarist who do you picture in your minds eye?" and sorry Brian May's white jumpsuit isn't the first thing that comes to mind when i think of a Guitarist. I can however see That White and Black Bull's eye guitar, or a big pink goatee, or a head abnging idiot in a school boy outfit or a big mass of Red/Blonde hair. just to name a few. I mean i can picture something about each of these guys on Sakib's list. I'm just going through who you voted off this round and saying why i don't feel they should be
(Note I don't feel May should be voted off......
yet
)
I think you are going more along the lines of who is most influential.

I'm voting off:
Dave Mustaine - Megadeth
Zakk Wylde - Ozzy Osbourne/Black Label Society
Joe Perry- Aerosmith
Dimebag Darrell - Pantera/Damageplan
Joe Perry was a really hard one for me to pick... I love his style!! I just think these four didn't have as much of an impact on the rock world as the rest on the list.

It's not looking good for Dave Gilmour. ?In all fairness, he's not iconic at all. ?Brilliant guitarist, but a right fatass these days.
Looking at the list now, I think it's gotta be a battle between Hendrix and Angus Young for top spot.
I just realised, where the hell is Slash??

prolly not allowed cuz it's a GnR board
Yeah your two picks there could very well be left at the end. I agreewith gilmour and next round will be very hard to pick, it'll be interesting though

Actually I dont think as iconic something to watch but to hear lets pretend the whole world was blind, that would be nothing and you just have to vote something that you hear, right?
And yes you might be right, someone dressing like a school boy isnt iconic at all in a rock style but dont tell me thats the only thing that he should be taken aware of

No of course not. who doesn't know that a song is AC/DC when it starts. Thunderstruck and Hell's Bells come to mind. but everything about Young is iconic. He's written riffs everyone knows, even if you don't like AC/DC or their style of Music (Like me, holy fuck i can't believe I'm defending AC/DC, there are 3 possible reasons for that i think 1. Hell has frozen over, 2. Pigs have learned to Fly or 3. CD is actually gonna get released
) anyway, Angus Young is Iconic to me because he has his own image that is very identifyable and he writes catchy tunes that are timeless. even though i hate the bastard
and the world is not blind. look at all the fuss over bucketheads appearance
