Marmite Militia, taking over one piece of toast at a time!!!

« on: March 13, 2006, 03:11:36 PM »

Anyone had it?

I know it's not set to "debut" in the states til April 3rd, but anyone abroad (where, I guess, it might've come out in early Feb??) had it?

Is coffee infused coke as dreadful as it sounds?

Quote
The new drink, a combination of Coca-Cola Classic and coffee extracts, will be first launched in France in January before being rolled out in the United States and other markets during 2006.

A Coke spokesperson said Coca-Cola Blak will be a mid-calorie drink, similar to Coca-Cola C2, which was launched in April 2004 and contains half the sugar, calories and carbohydrates of regular colas. The formula for the new beverage is expected to vary based on local tastes.

Analysts have said one of the keys to the company's future is capturing more consumers who have moved away from sugary soft drinks to diet versions, or to healthier low- or no-calorie beverages.

never heard of it though.....

i guess it isn`t out in germany as of yet...

Pepsi apparently had a similar drink a few years ago available in a few markets.  Never saw or tried it though, only heard about it on a page dedicated to soft drinks once made that now cannot be found.

I'll try this stuff out if I see it.  I'm not expecting much out of it though.

We saw a commercial for it last night (hence, my obsession with it today in the Axl silver case and nyc threads).

Sounds pretty ghastly.

If I want cold coffee, I'll buy iced coffee.? If I want coke, I'll buy coke.? If I want things that taste like shit....I'll buy diet coke or, worse yet, holiday spice pepsi. Smiley

That spiced pepsi is one of the worst pops I've ever had, though by the sound of things Coke Black may give it a run for its money ... sounds fucking awful ...

I'm guessing this Coke Black you are talking about is this new Coke Zero (it too has a black label) which is being sold here in Australia?

I've tried it and I actually like it. It tastes a hell of a lot better than Diet Coke, that's for sure, and now if I drink normal Coke it tastes like I'm drinking a can of sugar... yes

Nah Coke Zero is also available overseas. I'll find out tomorrow at work as we get daily updates via email on what's happening with Coke all over the world.

Nah, different stuff. ?Coke Zero is their new "zero calorie" version of coke. We have that too. It does taste batter than Diet Coke (which ain't saying much, IMHO)....but, then again, if I remember correctly it uses aspartame, which might be a very bad thing. ?Some studies show aspartame can be linked to brain tumors, brain lesions, and lymphoma. ?Yikes!

All artificial sweeteners are connected to some really fucked up health problems (saccharin-- cancer... aspartame-- brain problems, lymphoma, depression... splenda-- depression), as is high-fructose corn syrup (obesity).  Best to stick to real sugar over these weird things.  That's why I prefer my Coke imported from overseas.  I believe only the United States uses HFCS to sweeten drinks.  Mexico still uses real sugar in Coke, as does original recipe Dr. Pepper, both of which can be found here in Texas.  Additionally, HFCS leaves an aftertaste that sugar doesn't.

Anyways, I'll give that Coke Black a try if I see it anytime soon around here.  April 3, eh?

Yup, I think so.  That's what the count down clock on the above site would seem to indicate, too.

I've tried it, and its disgusting. I had one sip and nearly lost my dinner. puke I will certainly not be trying this "Coke Black".

It just sounds as if Coke are copying Pepsi by doing a coffee flavored version. And so far, Pepsi has always tasted better than Coke. So if I don't like Cappucino Pepsi, I am MOST CERTAINLY not going to like Coke Black.
