What does elektra records have to do with Chinese Democracy? No offense, just don't know how he could come across this information.

Axl could spend time in NY because of Sanctuary's office.

But if hes mastering, it wouldn't take long to finish it. Seems like really good news if its true.

I dont think Elektra knows what GNR is doing.
mixing is done just finishing the master.
We heard that years ago.

Until Axl, or someone closely affiliated with GNR mentions something like what you've described, then I'm not believing it.

I read a while back Axl does most of his business on the phone  Huh Would he visit NYC multiple times just to visit with management??? It would be logical he is either getting seen or doing some work on the music, or both  smoking

Well, there are just some things in business that you can't do even by phone.

Instead of being a smart ass every time you reply to one my posts, read his again. He has a friend that works for Elektra records that knows what's going on with CD.

Good news. Seems that Axl is combining business with pleasure. I know he likes NYC, he once said it was one of the cities that people don't bother him too much and he can go out there. Seems as if he's really enjoying his time there.

Maybe Axl hasn't gone out in the last 13 years and just wants to have some fun?

Dude, always check Wikipedia

The process of Audio Mastering varies depending on the specific needs of the audio to be processed. Steps of the process typically include:

   1. Load the recorded audio tracks into the DAW.
   2. Correct any problems with the audio, such as volume level, tonal balance, or undesirable artifacts.
   3. Sequence the recorded audio as it will appear on the final product.
   4. Transfer the audio to the final master format.

Examples of possible actions taken during mastering:

   1. Apply noise reduction to eliminate hum and hiss.
   2. Normalize the tracks to set the highest peaks in audio volume to a preset level; the overall audio should never exceed 0 dBFS.
   3. Equalize audio between two tracks to ensure there are no jumps in bass, treble, midrange, volume or pan.
   4. Apply a compressor (for example, 4:1 starting at -6 dB) to compress the peaks but to expand the softer parts.
   5. Apply a dynamics compressor to compress only specific frequencies that generate the audio peaks.
   6. In the case of mastering for broadcast, the bandwidth of the signal has to be reduced. For example for TV broadcast: apply a high-pass filter at 80 Hz with -18 dB/octave to filter out low frequencies and apply a low-pass filter at 12 kHz with -9 dB/octave to filter out high frequencies.

Hmm, it could be plausable. Is George Marino's mastering place in NYC?

Yes it is.

My thought (I think it's somewhere on this board) was that maybe Axl was working with George to do the remaster on the rumored GHII.  Complete speculation, on my part, of course.

But he could be doing both.  In addition, if they're working on more tour dates, it sure would be more convenient to have him in NYC, near Sanctuary's offices.  Ditto if/when we get a PR on a release date and final tour details.

In addition, the guy is going to Europe in, what....2 months or so?  Hell, maybe the guy gets really bad jet lag and this is part of his way of adjusting to the time zone difference gradually.  rofl

He might if there were a LOT of contracts to sign, etc.  Or some negotiating to do and contracts to sign, etc.

It's also easier to do business with Europe in NYC than in LA.  Less of a time zone difference.  (Again, I'm just speculating that it would matter)

If he's still here, maybe it's just because he's going to the RnR Hall of Fame Inductee thing tonight.

With him producing CD and it being his first, he would probably want to know how the master is sounding.
