many people took the band for a joke in 2002 because of Buckethead.

yeah, until he started playing....then everyone changed their mind pretty quickly.

Quote
Now, he is gone, the band seems more popular and more credible.

that makes no sense,,gnr popularity had nothing to do with Bucket leaving, actually it may have hurt the GNR image, as they had to cancel one of their most important shows.

Quote
They have a better image.

what's that? you haven't seen the band in the last 4 years....what kind of an image do they have now?

Quote
I've always said he was an anti-star, and an anti-success guy.

that's a personal opinion, and you may be right, i think he was more after personal success as opposed to group success.

Quote
GNR would have gone nowhere if he had been still in the band. Now he is gone, GNR attracts people again

that's a stupid thing to say...the only reason people are attracted to this band now is the same as all the times before....controversy, and with added material in the form of these leaks, it looks like it was a tangible 13 years as well...not because Bucket left.

Guys they still haven't sold out some of there arean gigs...

dublin and warsaw.....................

Thats half.

yeah.....? but i think those two dates are about to be sold out as well.

there are no more standing tickets for dublin left for example.....? and that`s the main part i think

But you realize how much bigger Stadiums are?
Most hold around 60,000-80,000 people while the biggest areans hold around 20,000.

For the people saying that GH has outsold AFD and UYI.... do you mean in the timeframe that GH has been out??

because in the US for example...... GH has sold 2.8 million copies (total)
 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?AFD has sold 15 million copies (total)
 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?the UYI's have sold 14 million copies (total)

I find it hard to believe that GH has outsold AFD anywhere... (but I'd like to see the numbers for other regions of the world)

I can't speak for Scandinavia, but I can not see this lineup selling out Stadiums anywhere *(for a tour) based only on the sales of a GH album.

Even in the US i think with the right buzz they could sell out a Stadium in a major market, but would bomb in just about every other city. So while they did quickly sell out 2 European shows, I can't see that happening around the world for an entire tour.
 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

afd has had to have sold at least 17 million or more since the 15 million mark was hit well over a decade ago.. I wonder wha the actual sales figures are today??

i heard somewhere that it`s at least 30 millions worlwide sales, if not 40 millions.

i think 18 million records in the USA.....

don`t quote me about this though hihi

where`s the point?  i never said that gnr should play stadiums......

dublin holds more than 30000 by the way....  it`s no arena if i remember correctly, but an openair concert....

Until they look for a recertification it is stuck at 15 million. Hopefully they will look to recertify after CD is out for a year or so (So look for updated numbers in about 2012)

my two cents about BH - I think that one guys comments are dead on, hes not well known at all outside of a very small circle of hard core guitar aficionados and people who are really into music.  While a VERY talented player, his look was really a joke in an image conscience music scene (some would/could argue the same about Axl's current look).
I see it this way, if you see a girl and shes really wierd and ugly looking, you don't really care if shes talented or has a good personality.....I think thats how a lot of people saw BH (and he was automatically compared to Slash too which was hard).

So.....hmm......in the U.S. did that Greatest Hits album not sell 2.81 million copies?
Please, if you're gonna make a statement like "in the rest of the universe that didnt happen" please back it up.
Sure. Greatest Hits did not sell more than UYI and AFD here in the United States, and didnt in most other areas either. Go dig up the sales figures for other parts of the world, and you'll see that I'm right.

I question the legitimacy of those figures you posted. I cannot imagine that hits album surpassing AFD's sales anywhere.

http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/releases/greatest-hits/index.html
I seen that Christos, and these numbers just dont add up. Did I misinterpret the guy's comments? Did he mean album sales for a specific year? I've been up for a long time, and probably took his comment the wrong way. I thought he meant total sales from all the albums. If he meant just sales in a recent year, then he would be correct. AFD only sells a few thousand copies a week now, so obviously a newer release would sell more.
