For the people saying that GH has outsold AFD and UYI.... do you mean in the timeframe that GH has been out??

because in the US for example...... GH has sold 2.8 million copies (total)
 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?AFD has sold 15 million copies (total)
 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?the UYI's have sold 14 million copies (total)

I find it hard to believe that GH has outsold AFD anywhere... (but I'd like to see the numbers for other regions of the world)

I can't speak for Scandinavia, but I can not see this lineup selling out Stadiums anywhere *(for a tour) based only on the sales of a GH album.

Even in the US i think with the right buzz they could sell out a Stadium in a major market, but would bomb in just about every other city. So while they did quickly sell out 2 European shows, I can't see that happening around the world for an entire tour.

many people took the band for a joke in 2002 because of Buckethead. Now, he is gone, the band seems more popular and more credible. They have a better image. I've always said he was an anti-star, and an anti-success guy. GNR would have gone nowhere if he had been still in the band. Now he is gone, GNR attracts people again beer

Europe is a whole different beast from the US. ?New album or not, the fact is music fans over there aren't as fickle and critical as those of us here in the states. ?As several Euro posters have said they don't get nearly as many big name bands over there. ?They also still embrace a lot of the 80s bands while us Yanks think they are just a total joke. ?Why do you think a lot of those 80s bands tour over seas. ?While a 110,000 stadium could be tough to fill, if theres any band that could do it in europe, it'd be GNR. ?They are immensely popular still overseas.

most people in scandinavia probably don`t even know that buckethead was in the band....

it`s just about gnr, not who`s in or not.

the tour in 2001 sold well, too, if i`m not mistaken....

you can`t blame buckethead for everything that went wrong with gnr hihi

not for all of course, it would be unfair, but he caused massive damages to the reputation of the band.

Gimme a break, Nes. Roll Eyes You're still on that line of thinking. BH had nothing to do with the 2002 "joke", and you know it.
he caused massive damages to the reputation of the band.
I want to see a list of examples.

i think the main difference is, that europe isn`t that hiphop orientated as the USA.....

the rest of your arguments are prejudices..... hihi

it depends on the country, though....  germany gets enough big acts for example i think ok

the europe tour 2001 was cancelled because of buckethead`s illness......

and axl said that the rio cancellation was caused by him as well....    at least that`s what axl said...

we don`t know if it`s true, but there`s not much more we could rely on.....

and it`s a fact that he was regarded as a freak and a bad replacement for slash.....but i think that would have changed after the CD release.....judging by his work on the leaks

Here's the deal with Buckethead.

People in the real world, don't know who Buckethead is. I have at least 20 friends who listen to every kind of metal, rock, hard rock, guitarists like Satriani, Vai etc etc, that didn't know who he was.

So, the whole KFC bucket was a joke to them. More like irony against Slash.

I believe that worked in a negative way for GN'R.

I'm not saying it destroyed the 2002 US tour. I just believe that Buckethead didn't fit with GN'R for various reasons.

i like BH style and playing
but since day one, i knew there was something fishy about him. the way he stands, the way he was distant to other member on stage, maybe that's his style, maybe not.
but i've always felt that he *used* axl. he used axl's name,  gnr's name, for his own personal motive. and then left. he never cared. - i hope he is the only one ... -

i agree with everything you just said.....

but musically he was a very important part of gnr and the public would`ve acknowledged that i guess

I don't think the general public ever would have embraced Buckethead. Like Christos said, he isn't very well known so his whole shtick gets lost in translation. He just becomes a joke, and as long as there are three guitars on stage I think his playing would have also been lost. Most people know who Slash is, because he was able to use his look to get attention, but then used that attention on stage and in video's stepping forward and showcasing his talent. As long as buckets role was to hide on the side of the stage until he needed to rip thru a 15 second solo and then do the robot back to his corner he would have just been a punch line for the media (which can sway public opinion).
