Bush I, for being stupid and not getting Saddam the first time
Clinton, for not making Monica wash the dress
Bush II, for being stupid and arrogant

Do you honestly think the Russians would have BOTH gone to war with the United States AND won had Reagan not been president?  Please tell me that was sarcasm.  The Soviet Union would have collapsed no matter who was president-- Reagan, Carter, or goddamn Donald Duck.  Communism doesn't work, especially not communism in the way the Soviets ran it.

Thats not true and you know it. Reagan bankrupted the Soviets by spending so much money they couldnt even keep up. Hell, they were borrowing money from us towards the end. The SDI bluff also played a huge role in the Soviet collapse. Its hella late, and I'm not in the mood for a huge Cold War discussion. If this thread hasn't been locked by tomorrow, we will continue this Reagan discussion then. ok

Why, we would have been in the same mess we are in now.  IMO, Bush I played it perfectly.  We whipped Saddam's army in the desert and then he was left to run his hellhole for a country.
