I don't know just what I should do...

« on: March 10, 2006, 01:08:04 PM »

Bad news for UK Guns fans: I knew they were playing download but didnt know it was their only show. Sorry if this has been posted.

--
AXL ROSE will be bringing Guns N? Roses to the UK to play a headline set at this year?s Download festival.

Just like Metallica, the festival?s other confirmed headliners, GN?R?s performance at the three-day event, which takes place at Donington Park on June 9, 10 and 11, will be the band?s only UK show in 2006.

The last time GN'R hit the stage at Donington was in 1988, following the release of Appetite for Destruction. This year, Rose and his bandmates will be showcasing new songs from the long-awaited Chinese Democracy album, which has been in the works for over a decade.

Better get my ticket for download then!!

Well doesn't this rule out a full-blown tour?

I wouldn't rule out additional dates being added (especially a London date)... the promoters are probably just trying to drum up ticket sales by saying it's their only UK show or whatever...

coz the organizers "suddenly" decided to do Fields of rock anyways...... in a rush.....They only organize te festival if they can get big names. They have been trying to get guns at Nijmegen... The Waldrock festival is rescedueled from 17 june to 1 july, cause guns might have played at 17 june.........but since the Austria date came across....they decided to get them on another date.........and that will be 2 july.........in nijmegen.....one day after Waldrock.........The waldrock organizers arent happy with that....cause they\d lose vistors.............

there is an article about the organizer of Waldrock CONFIRMING that issue : http://www.leeuwardercourant.nl/nieuws/cultuur_media/article384371.ece#reacties

Didn't they say the same thing in 2002, when they were booked for Leeds festival? The show in London was announced at least two months later.

I think they said the Leeds gig would be the first in the UK in nine years.

They announced it in April 2002 and in June they announced the Docklands show.

Maybe i have the context wrong here but just b/c they are only playing one UK does not mean this isnt a world tour/complete tour-i think that is to be judged on how many countries they play vs. how many dates in a particular country

Yet another article that states guns will be "showcasing" CD...Let's hope this is more than expectation on the part of promoters

And the GN'R name and logo was missing from an advert in yesterdays' London Evening Standard for Download.

But Tool and Metallica's name was in the advert...
