I think TWAt has potential, but the outro is a mess alright
IRS, I dunno, its  grown on me a little, but is fairly average

"Better" is fantastic and "I.R.S." is really good.  "T.W.A.T." has the potential to be great but it's like the chorus and a few other parts are almost a splicing of different songs!!! I think Rolling Stone did something MTV won't do...give something besides CRAP music a chance! "Chinese Democracy" is FAR better than Velvet Revolver's first effort, good to hear positive reviews coming!   ok

Seems like most people prefer "Better" from the demos. ?I like the song, don't get me wrong, but I place it 3rd behind "IRS" and "TWAT". ?Those 2 songs have flip-flopped 1 and 2 over the past couple weeks. ?I still don't have the full version of "Better", just the 2 minute clip, maybe I'd like it more in full. ?CITR is growing on me. ?Weird song though. ?Sounds like a love song, ballad type. ?But the lyrics don't reciprocate.

Wow. Nice review ok

TWAT is a mess? That song is friggin brilliant.

TWAT has potential but yes it does sound like a mess . It's only a  demo though so I wouldn't worry about it. We can all hear that the song is gonna be amazing but how can anyone not admit that it sounds like a mess right now.

nevermind I found it.... guess we will see that issue any day now Roll Eyes

Hi. I normally do not post on message boards, but after lurking around here for a bit , I thought this may be of interest to most of you on this board. I am involved in marketing, and at a recent company party I attended I ran into a girl I went to college with but have not seen in almost six years. Anyway, we got to talking and she works as an editorial assistant over at Rolling Stone magazine. During conversation the topic of what "projects" were ahead for us in the New Year came up. She told me that Rolling Stone magazine had just booked Zack de la Rocha AND Axl Rose to appear together on the cover of their "Spring/Summer" preview issue, which will be coming out in March. It is an annual issue Rolling Stone does, and they usually jam pack it with interviews, previews, teasers, etc.
Being a big fan of Zack/Rage Against The Machine, I was very excited to hear this news and asked her some questions. She said she did not know any specifics, but both long awaited albums from Zack and Axl's new version of his band are set for an early summer release and that there will be a 1-2 page story on each singer talking about their albums. She said that Zack will be interviewed first sometime in the next few weeks, and Axl was going to be interviewed sometime in the middle of February. She said a photo shoot (Zack and Axl will be shot together) is scheduled for the end of February in Los Angeles but a photographer is still being negotiated on. She was and still is a huge music fan, so it was great to talk to her about some of the music out these days. Anyway, just thought this may be of interest to some of you on here. Can't wait to hear Zack's new album! And that Axl album may be an interesting listen too! Cheese

According to Merck, that rumor was false.

Nice.

But.. perhaps too much praise. Whatever

shesh..too much praise?  I don't get it.  The songs are good...and it's a quick and dirty review.  RS are my personal fav music mag...and yes they love rock.  deal w/ it.

Pretty nice. Wow, though, I'm having a VERY hard time seeing how anyone can call T.W.A.T. a "mess" ~~ it's beautiful just as it is! (esp. 6:43 version)  love

Yeah, I do hope some of these major music rags are going to listen with open ears and "get it." That would be really cool. And I hope Axl gets some peace... from all these lawsuits etc. Same for the other guys (VR guys). Could be a VERY GOOD year for music!

The demos are better than UYI 1 and II? Not sure how the author came to that conclusion.

Thats a cool quick review...but I think RS has lost a lot of its cred as a ROCK magazine and is now more of a pop music mag/rag.  I mean, when you have Clay Aiken and Britney on the cover, limp bizkit getting 3.5 stars reviews and no offense to VR fans, but contraband is NOT 4 stars....(well maybe in comparison to limp bizkit and britney getting 3 it is but....).

Sure, I guess its better for them to be PRO Axl then Anti, but to me their opinion means shit.

I went to rehab with a guy who worked for RS in the 90's. People would call him Big Head because his ego was so huge. Anyways he was a believer in modern music telling people if they were part of "Generation X" or "Generation next" He was being serious about this.

fair enough. I just think it sounds like it has loads of potential but to me it is a mess. It's not mixed right. It more than any of the songs sounds like a demo.
