Don't ?sweat the T.W.A.T. line... every review has to incorporate some criticism... otherwise it's just an Axl Rose slobberfest... gives the review some legitimacy. The last line is fvcking classic too...

In my opinion, TWAT is a great track for about the first 2:30 - even when Axl launches into his perfect Geoff Tate of Queensryche impression.? However, after that it pretty much falls apart.? The reason mostly being the quality of the mix rather than the actual music, though.? The layers just kind of 'blend' together too much.? I'm sure the album version will be much tighter, probably have at least one more verse, and overall be a very strong track.

I love "There Was a Time" - I just think that, to a 'casual' listener, the mix on the last part of the song is a huge mess.  Hence why they might have bad comments about it.  I think its compression to MP3 really hurts it, even as a demo.  Just because, again, the blending of stuff isn't real smooth.

Is there an Estranged demo out there?  I've often wondered this.

Glad I'm not the only one that seen the similarities. I mentioned it several times in the TWAT thread, but I guess no one else noticed it, or just isn't queensryche fans.

AFTER A LOONLY DECADE-LONG DELAY, it's a relief just to know that Axl Rose really has been recording - and surprisingly enough, judging by these 3 freshly leaked demos, Chinese Democracy could end up being worth the wait.

That's the best proof that we are not aliens or stupid persons. We always believed in Axl's talent and we always will even if CD never sees the light of the day.

''Better'' is the strongest track: With robotic rhythm guitar, poppy verses, an angro chorus and an exotic falsetto intro, it beats most of Use Your Illusion I and II.

I Agree with this comment, but I don't think ''Better'' is the best track. ''There Was A Time'' is a masterpiece (don't want to underrate-estimate ''Better'', but I think TWAT has the potencial of an epic classic, an hymn)

In contrast, ''There Was A Time'' wants to be a ''Don't Cry''-style epic but sounds more line an overproduced mess.

They used to say the same about ''November Rain'' or ''Coma''. Nothing to be worried.

''IRS'', however, is an effective hard rock tune, nimbly sliding drum loops underneath crunchy ascending power cords and Rose howling like he just got off that bus from Indiana.

I agree with this. But at this point, I'm a little less optimist than this guy.

First off, it's good to see a positive review.  No doubt.  But, Rolling Stone isn't exactly what it used to be.  It used to be THE magazine for music, but over the last few years it has lost a lot of clout.  If they had given a bad review you'd be saying Rolling Stone sucks.  It's one man's opinion and I think he's right on except I think TWAT is great too.  Anyway, good press like this certainly can't hurt.  No matter who it's from.
