They announced it as a new song.
This place is a very small province, and it seems like there's only one other person from around here on this message board, so it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't a huge deal.

With that said, I'm not ruling out that it wasn't a new song.  But, this is far from New York or LA or anything. It wouldn't be surprising at all if there wasn't a huge deal made about it. That's probably why the radio station played it in the first place, assuming it WAS a new song. They knew that they wouldn't have to worry about taping/"leaking" or any trouble from record execs.

Was it on Krock or Ozfm?

I honestly don't know which station it was.
Just repeating what I heard from him. I assumed it was mistake, but since I saw this thread today, the two tied in together pretty well.

Can you find out which station so I can find out if it was actually played or not?

I'm going to e-mail both stations right now.
I really doubt it was Hits FM...

Here's the e-mail that I got back from K Rock.
---------

Hey Ryan?  I did play a new GnR tune on Monday night?  It?s called IRS.  A few months ago, some material from the fourthcoming album Chinese Democracy leaked onto the internet.  Radio stations all over started playing it until Axl?s lawyers sent cease and desist letters to everyone.  However, I?m still waiting for my letter (haha).  Axl said last week that the album will hit shelves this fall?  but he also said it was going to be out this past March and we haven?t heard anything yet.  You can hear the song Monday if you like?  I have been opening Big Hairy Tunes with it every Monday night looking for my ?Letter?.  Big Hairy Tunes?  Weeknights at 9?  on K-Rock.

Cheers,

Bigtom

I love how, and Slash knew what he was doing, everyone now attributes Slash's statements about a March release to Axl.  Lazy reporters, and DJ's.

And that is a perfect example of 99% of the DJ's. They dont know shit and just regurgitate the shit that gets shoved down their throats on the internet.  Roll Eyes

This tool sounds like he wants a letter really bad, maybe this should be forwarded to Meck, and make this guys wish come true.

Im pretty sure that most DJs collectively know less than we do.  This is definitley proof of it by mixing up the slash statement as being from Axl about a march release date.

and yet again, it all proved to be bullshit. i'm sure when a single IS released, it'll be on iTunes when it hits radio just like every other single from every other band. i'm also sure iTunes will have tons of promotion for it.

If IRS is released as a single it could possibly go on the Greatest Hits Vol.2 album due June 6th. Axl can use that as a bridge album to show the world the new G'n'R and play it as he tours.

It could also help him sell Chinese Democracy having a hit single on one album and being massivly played over the summer and he can release a 2nd single and shoot a video for the album all on the strong buildup of IRS as a launching pad.

I seriously doubt that any CD songs will be "Huge hits" mainstream wise.
When was the last time a hard rock song was a "Huge hit" on mainstream radio? 1994?

Rock radio is another story though.
