intriguing - it would make a lot of sense for a song to be given to radio before the tour

I dont think its true, we have heard this like 4 times already. I also dont think IRS would be the first single its the weakest of the 4 leaks and even of the 3 main songs they played live (cd, maddy and the blues)

Before all my posts about subjective matters there should be an IMO before the post. I took this sig down but of course it has to go back up.

The version we've heard is weak, I agree 100%.  But who knows what it sounds like now?  Axl knows what he's doing and the label isn't out to lose money on GNR.  Whatever is released has my confidence.

IRS in my opinion was the strongest. Twat I thought was terrible and CITR was to boring.
Better was pretty good.

i think it's bogus.
if cd is out in the fall it would be too early for a single i think. but maybe we'll get cd earlier if the irs rumour is true Huh
i'm inclined to think that some radios try to get a bit more people to listen to them and they're using the gnr new shows

If Alaska is good enough for Predators to build a secret underground temple to harvest and fight Aliens, then maybe it's good enough for AXl Rose ok

I don't know why he would chose Alaska to broadcast a new single, but okey doke. I'm crying foul until some hard evidence surfaces.

but for the record, I'm more than happy if IRS is the first single. I love that song

I think 'I.R.S' would be a good starting point for the new Guns. It's a pretty traditional track and definetly one of the best leaks. They are all strong songs and we don't even know if it's going to be that song or maybe one we have never heard.

Either way Guns N' Roses surely cannot release a single about 5 months before their album was scheduled to be released. That doesn't make any sense. If anytime it will be during the European tour. ok

IRS would work very well in Europe. It's a pretty straight "rock in your face" track, people like that here.
It's Rock, pretty aggressive but not too much, it doesn't sound metal or anything like that, nice intro with accoustic guitar, then it starts rocking with an easy remembering guitar riff,?vocal lines are great, it's great.

Maybe up a little bit the tempo and add another rythm guitar (more aggressive) and it would be a PERFECT 1st single.

The guys at WCCC in Hartford say they neither have it, nor are they expecting it.  And they are CT largest (and pretty much only) Rock station.

Now, they could be lying, I suppose.....but I doubt they are.

A friend of mine told me he heard a new Guns N' Roses song on the radio here in Newfoundland, Canada last night. He wouldn't make up something like that, as he isn't a Guns fan, and doesn't really know that I like them very much.

Plus, none of the stations around here played any of the leaks.

This gives a lot more merit to what he told me

If in case he truly heard a new song, I bet he wouldn't be the only one knowing about it atm.

The question is, if he's not much of a Guns fan...how would he know it was 'new'?  Did the DJ SAY it was new?  If that was the case, he probably would have given a title, as well.  Which means your friend would probably remember it.

Or, as is more likely, did the DJ play something that your friend hadn't heard before, and he assumed it was new?  Like something off TSI?  I've had people hear "Hair o' the Dog" and tell me they thought it was new GnR (again, they weren't big fans).....

They announced it as a new song.
This place is a very small province, and it seems like there's only one other person from around here on this message board, so it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't a huge deal.

With that said, I'm not ruling out that it wasn't a new song.  But, this is far from New York or LA or anything. It wouldn't be surprising at all if there wasn't a huge deal made about it. That's probably why the radio station played it in the first place, assuming it WAS a new song. They knew that they wouldn't have to worry about taping/"leaking" or any trouble from record execs.
