I just checked this post 10 mins ago and there is already 20 new posts....my god.  Now I'm questioning if this is real or not...why would they have it and not say anything??  and why I.R.S?? Merck said there was better...so I'm not sure about this one.

I could assume that since it was already leaked it may have forced them to just release a much better version of what had been played (the leak.)

I didn't want to post this in the forums and create more hype if it turns out false.

I just called the DJ of the local radio station (though it is owned by Clear Channel) stating that I was calling from Mammoth Music. I figured that with our history together (the station was worked with us on promotional events in the past), I would get a no BS answer.

He told me that he had an actual copy from the record label. I asked him again whether it was different from the internet leaks. His response was that he had those leaks but refused to play them and that this was the real thing. He then went on to say it isn't offical until next week, but that he was sick of waiting and would play it once tonight. Since KWHL is a Clear Channel property hundreds of stations should have this single by now if it has made it to lil' Alaska.

Unless there's been som drastic changes made to I.R.S., I cannot believe Axl's been working on 100+ songs for 13 years only to release that as a first single. In my opinion (and I feel I have a pretty good idea what today's musical climate is like), I.R.S. will not get him any new fans. Old ones will cheer, kids will ignore.

That's why I feel it won't be the first single off of Chinese Democracy and that this story is probably not legitimate.

Stations were playing a low quality MP3 they downloaded - received C&Ds, the stations didn't listen since the song was #1 all across the boards, so Geffen rush released an official copy of the song for the stations to play ahead of time.

That's why I feel it won't be the first single off of Chinese Democracy and that this story is probably not legitimate.

Again, if the songs has already been leaked and is taking the number 49 spot.......then maybe it forced their hand. Maybe they had another single in mind, but the leak changed that.

They figured they might as well put out the official song that was already being played illegally.
