Marshall settings.

I just bought a Marshall MD50DFX, my first marshall.
What're some popular settings on the overdrive?  On the manual that comes with the marshall they provided several, ie lead, metal and classic crunch;  i only particularly enjoyed the classic crunch because I found the lead had too much gain (3/4).
PS - Or maybe some settings by Slash or Kirk Hammett or Zakk Wylde.  Thanks. 
By the way, I'm playing from a Gibson Classic LP.

I read a mag a while back that had Slash's settings, I'll see if I can dig it up again for you.

Their settings are not going to help your MG50DFX. Search for a list of tone settings specific to your amp on the net...

Slash gain- 6.5 Bass/low- 7 Mid- 4.5 Treble/high- 7 Presence- 7
then there as like lead output and input but my valveking doesnt have that. it's all on Snakepit.org

Not to be a dick, but you wont get Slash's sound by following his settings from his JCM amp .... I have a JCM 900 head (I sold the JCM 2000 TSL) and I can get a VERY cool Slash sound, but not by following his exact spec... because my amp is slightly different ... tho not that different.

Anyways... I suggest, just run everything on 5, and then start playing with the bass, mid, treble and see what comes of it ....

remember... on a solid transistor amp, you will have to use more gain than on a valve amp, to get the distorted sound Slash has....

You've got yourself a valvestate amp.  I had to use one for recording once and I found that scooping the mids helped my tone some.

I had a MG100DFX for a while before I got a JCM800(best rock tone possibly ever might i add ). I play hard rock with a slash-esque tone. I ran something close to this on the mg.

Bass:6 Mid:5 Treble:8 Contour:6 Gain:6

At the end of the day its down to what you hear as best and what you really want. I will say now you wont get anything close to the tones of Slash and Zakk Wylde etc. Purely because they run valve amps loud which is a world apart to a transistor amp(such as yours)
