The tour will last around 6 weeks as I understand it. Starting at Rio and ending in early July.

I'd expect about 15-20 European dates in total. I think they'll do Asia after that and eventually worh there way round the rest of the world before doing a US tour (probably in October/November time). Then they'll do the whole damn thing again and release the 2nd album.

Well, that last bit may be wishful thinking! ?hihi

Yeah, I saw FNM, Metallica, & Guns in Orlando in September of 92.? Definitely the most amazing concer I've ever been to in my life.? FNM was at the top of their game, as was GNR.? Even Metallica did well - and I'm not a big Metallica fan.? (Well, the older stuff I like.. but like, Kill em' All / Ride The Lightning / Master of Puppets old)

-darknemus

Metallica actually played quite a bit of their older stuff, though the set was dominated by "The Black Allbum" material.

Our show was in Sept too. ?It had been postponed first because of Axl's throat problems, then again because of Hetfields injuries. ?He actually played guitar for the encore for the first time at our show,(Enter Sandman, of course) after his injuries, I think.

It was one long ass show, that's for sure. ?Started at about 3 PM or 4 PM (can't remember which) and we left the stadium after midnight...maybe even as late as 1 AM. ?The stage change from Metallica to Guns took for freaking EVER, because Metallica had to have that stupid pit in the middle of the stage that then had to be "closed up" for the Guns set!!! ?My one and only complaint about the show... If this is going to work they need the album out before the tour. I am a huge fan and saw them in 2002 and have got my Dublin tickets but its no where near sold out yet, I think alot of people like me are not convinced about seeing another AFD tribute show.

Yeah yeah yeah... it sucks because I live in the U.S. and there's no dates...

Come on Gn'R!

Fall, it looks like. ?With no dates announced, probably, til mid-summer-ish. ?I don't think they're even going to try to put a US tour together until they have some dates under their belt (and probably the album out) to "entice" US promoters into thinking Axl is both a good risk and can make them $$.

So, for us US residents, the waiting for actual live dates will probably continue.

Totally agree. The only possible chance we'll have is if they decide to play a short-notice warm up show at a smaller venue in Vegas, LA, New York...something like that.

I think, as long as there is a release date for the album out, and it's CLOSE to the tour dates (could be just after) AND they use the tour to "preview" CD in a BIG way....they'd be OK.

But, I agree...another AFD tour, with mostly AFD material, is not going to be well recieved, I think.  The fans might like it...I don't know...but the critics, and the US promoters who will be watching closely, will not.  But I think GnR and their management are smart enough to know that.

My gut tells me that we are going to get 1 big fat press release soon. Containing eveything we need to know including album info. I think GNR are just finalizing a lot of things right now, particularly tour dates and hopefully album details and promotions....

The only thing that scares me right now is GH2. Hopefully we dont get that.

Rock AM Ring/Rock Im Park isn't confirmed yet.

A London date is unlikely. Looks like Download may be the only UK date.

I think the download press release said that was the only UK date this summer. Don't know how accurate their info is.

I don't know...I rather like the idea of an "Axl approved" version of GH (which is, FYI, what I think GH2 will be). ?It will, probably, mean a GH with actual digital remasters/mixes of the original material, and not the old analog material resourced to digital, like the original GH was.

It will also probably address the omissions on the original GH that we all whined about. ?

I didn't buy the original GH (I couldn't see the point..I own it all already and it sounds the same) but can see certain circumstances where I'd buy GHII (those mentioned above, plus some possible "preview" tracks of CD...or new material NOT slated for CD...or demos' from CD like the ones that have leaked).

Yeah I know it. I just want to see Gn'R I've never seen them. Who here has?

I have...a whole bunch. ?Old Gnr (4 times, 3 as Headliners, 1 opening for Aerosmith) and New Gnr (1 on the '02 tour in Hartford).

The Foxboro, MA show (Faith No More, Metallica, GnR) back in '92 was the single best concert (and I've been to quite a few, back in the younger days) I've ever seen. All 3 bands were good, Metallica and Guns at the top of their game and height of their popularity.

Edit: Stupid me...forgot the New Haven show...which, if you knew my particulars, you would find very funny.

I've seen GNR 5 times as well.  4 times with the old lineup and once in Boston in December 2002 with current lineup including Buckethead.  I was at the Foxboro GNR/Metallica/FNM concert and it was by far the worst of the 5 GNR performances I saw.  The massive food fight between acts was fun, but Axl was pissed off at something and did a portion of the concert sitting down at the drum stand with no emotion whatsoever.  He was in a bad mood for whatever reason.  I feel bad for you Pilferk if that was the best GNR concert you ever say.

I also saw them back to back nights in Worcester, MA (very first two concerts after UYIs were released) and Soundgarden opened for them.  Those concerts were so much better than the stadium show in Foxboro.  I'd also say the Boston show with current lineup was better than the stadium show.  I just think Axl was going through the motions in Foxboro.  Metallica was far better that night (even though I don't like them anywhere near as much as GNR).  Definately not Axl's best performance.
