VELVET REVOLVER Bassist Says New Album Will Be 'Killer' - Mar. 1, 2006
While Scott Weiland has said he wants to make a concept album for VELVET REVOLVER's second release, bassist Duff McKagan was hesitant to confirm it, according to MTV.com. "I think a lot's been said, but when it comes down to it we have to make the best record all of us collectively, and separately, ever made," he said. "Now we know who each other are and who we are as a band. The first record was really just us coming together and being straight in the studio, but now it's gonna be deeper and bigger and all that. Concept record? I don't know, but it's gonna be killer."

Killer is better than danceable... Concept? Ehhhh Scott.

They need to let Duff head up PR, though he often gets stories confused from the past, cause he presents it a lot better and at least tells us what we want to hear.

Depends how soon they get to work on it I suppose. Didn't Duff say he wanted to get into the studio March-April?

It's only the start of March, so it could still happen, but they don't seem to be in any rush.

well definitely but the 1st album lacked some killer grooves. so this next album will definitely KILL as far as gelling as a band and groove goes! Danceable=Groove as Concept = better lyrics as More time/less pressure to release = better album!!!! ok

well definitely but the 1st album lacked some killer grooves.

I didn't think so, I think there's some fine grooving stuff on Contraband.

And I like it how everyone is guessing what Matt meant by "danceable", when none of us really know what he meant by that.

I like Duff's summary better anyway, bring on the "killer" second album beer

I've bolded my fav parts of that quote. It starts to get me really excited at the prospect of a new VR album with all that in mind! Grin

Also someone who met Dave a few weeks ago said:

i also asked him about the rumor that the next album is going to be a concept album and he just laughed.  it sounded like he gets questions about theses kinds of things all the time...he told me he doesnt doubt that scott said it, just that too many people believe too many things they read on the internet and that scott will just say things sometimes and it ends up getting blown out of proportion....

So I maybe we'll not get a Concept record next, but I've got high hopes for this record, they seem to want to set the bar high  beer

I have very high hopes and expectations for this album Grin

And if it's out in fall or late fall, being a fan of GnR as well, that wait will seem like nothing

Danceable?  That comment worried me too.  I think I like the grooves better.  When Matt said danceble right away I think of them playing some pretty gay songs.  I'm sure the 2nd album is going to  be pretty cool.
