Frozen Inferno, no one understands what the hell this guy says... hihi

Oh, and ARV... didn't you think that maybe they didn't play Don't Cry simply because they were playin' other songs and didn't have room for it... OR they didn't play it because MAYBE... just MAYBE not all of the new line up knew it! Its a long shot, but it could happen! ok

I tend to believe this also... I really think we didn't see Don't Cry because Finck/Bucket/Richard don't have the right sound for it. Slash's work is pretty distinct, I mean they do November Rain because it's Axl's song, but in that one, I really didn't love the solos that much (I saw them live twice, I think Richard actually did the best job), but I guess they have to do it. Don't Cry might just be a causulty of the change in members.

I'm sure the guys would much rather play their own songs, also...

though I would like to hear Don't Cry, Estranged, and Coma!!! But the last one will NEVER happen.

And yeah, setlists, space...

I wonder what's gonna happen this time round, what songs might be dropped to make room for others, or will they just play longer? Seems unlikely since they have limited time at festivals, even as the closing act.

I'm pretty sure they don't play it simply because "Its an Izzy song."

Didn't Axl actually say that at a show when someone screamed "Don't Cry!"?

Axl wrote the lyrics... and he seems to be on better terms with Izzy than anyone else from the old lineup, since Steven is out of it completely, Duff and Slash are suing him (albeit Slash is saying nice things)... Izzy supposedly wrote a song for CD forever ago, and Axl mentioned talking to him in the RS interview.

No songs should be taken out of consideration for the upcoming tour, no matter who wrote them in the old band. Especially Don't Cry. I think the days of calling songs that are not on the set -list and 3 plus hour shows are a thing of the past for Guns.

They rehearsed a specific set for the 2001/2 shows to get the new band used to the old material and introduce the fans to the band. There are some fuzzy rehearsal boots from one of the Vegas shows where they ran through the first bit of Civil War (Axl sounds really bad on it) and a bit of Estranged.

At one of the 2002 shows Axl did say something about Don't Cry being an Izzy song and there may be something in the story about him not wanting to do it because of Shannon but I reckon at some point once new albums are out and they're well into touring they'll do it eventually.

What would be way more interesting would be to hear the new band interpret Locomotive, Coma, Estranged, Civil War, Breakdown Double Talkin' Jive etc. ?They can do Don't Cry by numbers with Robin soloing but other songs they can really experiemnt and do their own versions of.

could the fact they dont play it have anything to do with the amount izzy contributed or shannon dying?
I think that sounds right

I just figured Axl made the decision to focus on Appetite. When i saw them he played all of appetite but one song. Then when you add in The Blues and Madagascar, thats two more ballads and i wouldn't want too many.

I agree, i'd love to hear the new band experiment a little on some of those other songs.

Cool, thanks.

Do you have the Estranged part of the soundcheck mentioned above, or any other part of the soundcheck for that matter?

Sounds exactly like the demo with a few alterations.  I could only wish it were true that  the new band had fucked around with civil war. but I don't think it was rehearsed up to snuff to play if they had.  Maybe they've jammed on it.  I think Fortus could do it justice.

As far as Don't Cry.  I don't think they'l be doing that as long as they aren't lacking songs that calm things down.  But then again its GNR and you never know what the hell is gonna happen
