If it were an official single, they would say so. Whenever there is ambiguity, the truth is that there is none. I would be floored if a GnR single were played on Friday.

A remote possibility is that they were sent a single and are going to play it early, against management's wishes. Very remote.

ok...He came back, I was gonna post that if he took a long time, but he returned. He checked with the musical director...we had a good talk about the leaks and all..and YOU HEARD THE WHOLE THING WRONG!!!

What was apparently said by Bob before, or after Brownstone, was "Here's a song we can play that we won't get sued for". No offical word on anything, as a matter of fact he was asking me what I knew about Buckethead leaving and all that. So, via the musical director of WAAF, no new single coming that they know of.

Doesn't a single need to be promoted first before the radio stations play it? are they allowed to play it before its release?

Singles don't need to be promoted. They are the promotion. Also singles get played on radio well before they are actually released for sale. Sometimes months before.
