There is not one correct answer to your question to be made. It's all devided on personal level. Some won't mind cause they are excited to see Axl anyways. And some would mind cause they'd like to hear new songs. Ask yourself for a personal-fitting answer rather then the general board's opinion

i don`t like all these threads about worst case scenarios....

and playing a setlist of only old songs would be a worst case scenario for sure.....

I agree with that one dude...its a personal choice.  Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Axl live (so long as he showed up and his voice was in decent shape).  Hes a great performer.  It'd be unreal to hear new songs, but only if I knew them (thank god for leaks).
I think for young gunners it'd be cool to see Axl too.  Been a fan since 87 but the first time I saw them live was in 2002 so....depends where you're coming from I guess.

Last time at Rock In Rio they preformed 5 new songs (I think). I think that they will set up the setlist the same way this time. If they have the 5 new songs again I think it will be:
Better
TWAT
IRS
Catcher
Prostitute
I hope this happens!!

Great point.....I expected to hear WTTJ and PC, but I shit myself when they played YCBM and RQ.  Great to hear all the classics and it was awesome to hear the new songs too.  I can see how it'd be hard to appeal to both old and new fans though.

If they don't play new songs I will start a riot that will shut them down.

Seriously they well and truly deserved to be booed off stage if they don't come up with the goods this time. They had their moment in 2002/3 to pi$$ about and play songs from the 1980's and 90's.

I want the new stuff or they can go to hell.

I dont care what they play but please no more 2002 setlists, its boring to repeat exact setlists tour after tour.
If he doesnt want to play to much new stuff then rehearse some Illusion stuff or whatever.

I think IMO the following songs are the songs that basically need to be played:

Welcome to the Jungle
It's So Easy
Nightrain
Mr. Brownstone
Paradise City
Sweet Child O' Mine
Rocket Queen
Patience
November Rain
Knocking On Heaven's Door
You Could Be Mine

After that list I'd like to see the rest of the set made up of new songs... that means when they tour with the album out aprox. 11 new songs and 11 old songs.

After a while you can cut the Rocket Queens and Nightrains and focus more on newer material.

I don't think you can forget about the classics, but I'd rather have the new band focus more on their own material, of course only when they have enough of it out to focus on. ?

For these upcoming Europe shows I think Chinese Democarcy, The Blues, Madagascar, IRS, Better and TWAT should all be played (maybe something else if it gets leaked) and throw in a few more classics such as Live and Let Die, My Michelle, Out ta get Me, ect.

Its something different and will be a big surprise

« Reply #16 on: February 27, 2006, 06:53:34 PM »

honestly if they dont have an album release date before during or shortly after the tour, then this tour in my eyes is pointless and will put this band back even more than the 02 tour did in terms of public perception.

WTF is the point of playing another 02 setlist and tour. I dont eve want them to throw in some more new songs. I want to hear the studio album first, then se them do a tour. Or atleast have the album out at some point of the tour. Let the fans get accliamted to the new material the way you want so that they can come to your shows for thoe album.

If this doesnt happen I seriously think Axls plans are stupid....

just go back do what you have to do to finish the album and when ur ready go out and do a tour for the record. What is so dam hard about that? Why cant grn do this

Press release w/in the next month
Release a Single/Video
Do a few Warmup Gigs{small}
Album drop a month or 2 later
TOur the world

what is so hard about that

no more testing the waters and stop n gos....time is running out in terms of the touring aspects of GNR

WTF is the point of playing another 02 setlist and tour.

He wants/needs the cash?  He likes to tour and be on the road?  His euro fans treat him like a god?  I think a lot of guns fans have this impression that Axl SHOULD do things for us fans....i dont know, i've always struck him as someone who does things for himself.  CD isn't for the fans, its for Axl...its his baby, his art....his masterpiece (I hope).

Walapino - I agree..the exact same set list would be a bit boring (but I still wouldn't mind going to a show).  Be unreal to hear some songs like Estranged or locomotive.

The website for novarock was quoted.
"Guns N' Roses Presents: Chinese Democracy"
There is no way in hell that MORE THAN HALF of the songs preformed will be new.  They might not be the ones we have heard yet, but I guarentee they'll be new.  If they're not, Axl just needs to stop.

well if the album doesn't come out before I don't thing they will play any new songs, maybe the ones they did on the last tour,I don't think they would want anyone to hear anymore new songs if the album isn't coming out soon,I dunno peace
