Buckethead is pretty much ruling these new leaked tunes. TWAT is a one-man show as far as I'm concerned, and that man is Buckethead. He also owns IRS. I know it's a tiny clip, but it sounds like he could own CITR too...

My question is:

..."is Buckethead stealing Axl's thunder"...

How will Axl feel when "Chinese Democracy" is released and most people are talking about the guitar playing of someone who isn't even in the band anymore...?  confused

keep in mind we don't know if axl kept most of bucket's part or not. Remember that bucket's solo albums are nothing worth buying. In my opinion.... Some nice licks and tunes but it gets bored very quikly. You need someone to get the best out of you. Axl is the man who pushes the best out of musicans... Slash''s solo records aren't really that great.........yet he is a great player .....but you need someone who guides you, pushes you that one extra step further. That one was Axl......

We can still conclude that Axl is calling the shots in this musical directing....monstrosity.

I disagree I think Fincks solos are better than BHs espcially on TWAT

Totally agree.  I could do without shredding on a gnr album.  The work on Better is not good.  If you took the lyrics and melody in Better and gave it to Slash to write around, you'd have a masterpiece on the level of Jungle IMO.

absolutely. Buckethead rules TWAT and IRS. I like Fincks solo in Better more than Buckets though.
but that spacey stuff in Better kinda weighs up for it, I assume that's Bucket too.

oh I definately agree on this!
I think he would have made TWAT and the first solo in IRS better too.

Remember that bucket's solo albums are nothing worth buying.

You lost any and all credibility right there.  I've been a buckethead fan since '96, way before Axl Rose even had a clue who he was...and his solo albums, are incredible.

Yeah, but that's because when we think of a gnr album, we imagine Slash's style. Would Slash improve these demos, for sure, but there are times when shredding works for new gnr.

Nah. He's not stealing Axl's thunder.
And Finck's solos are also great.

But I still think there's an unfilled space in the band since Buckethead left.

what i liked most about Buckethead was what he added to the old songs. Between Bucket and Robin they brought new life to old classic's. Some of the old Gn'R songs (as great as they are) do sound dated. Two of my highlights was Buckethead doing some amazing stuff on Nightrain (my personnal favourite GnR song of GnR songs) and what Buckethead does to Novermber Rain (he plays the finnal solo right at the end like some sort of anthem - check out the live at Leeds version, there's video's floating around of this).

I think Axl will be the main focus on the album without question.  I agree that Robin's work so far was pretty good; better than I probably expected.  While I think Bucket is a tremendous talent, I'm not a big fan of shredding.  It's impressive he can play that fast, but I"m just not a big fan of that sound.  Most of the great solos you hear aren't based on speed, IMO. I've got a few of Bucket's solo albums, so I know he's capable of more than just shredding.  But, he obviously is a big fan of it as it seems he's always insistent on showing pure speed in his solos.  I'm just not sure that's Guns N' Roses style.  But then again, this is a new GN'R....

The final amazing solo, that starts at about 4:23, is DEFINATELY Buckethead.
