I was a little worried about Axl's voice based on some of his more recent performances and newer material but after hearing the 2 new songs I feel very good. He doesn't seem to have lost much, if anything in these 2 songs. He really shows a ton of range in IRS and still has that aggressive style he has shown in the past. It is defiantely a different style than original Guns but Axl still has the abliity to deliver the goods with his voice. Feel free to discuss.

I think he sounds really cool all through "better" .. the intro is cool and the verses , but I still think tommy or robin does that "now I know you better , you know I know (better?) " part at the end , but if that is axl then he sounds VERY different there .. and good.

He shows he still has quite a range, but they're not great vocals. They're demo vocals and he sounds quite rough in places.

I have never doubted Axl`s voice!
Just because the soundman fucked up on VMA, and Axl was a bit unlucky on Paradice City, he still delivers in an amazing way!
You know, rock n roll is not about singing clear, and perfect! Its about rocking the hell out of the audience, and show them that
this is a show! Not an idol contest

I just think he trys to save his voice during the live shows now. If you look at any of the old tour dates (88-93), by the end of every show he is completely hoarse, and his voice is totally destroyed. Then it would get better for the next show, until the end of that show. He's not that young any more, and I think he trys just to sign smooth, with no "grit" in his voice at all, so its not as stressful on his vocalcords.

This has to be the case, or his studio voice would be no better than his live voice. His voice on better sounds get, with plenty of power and grit like the old Axl. I do think he has lost a little, but its only a tiny bit, and doesnt bother me at all. He will be amazing on the final version of CD!

The voice sounds great, no need to argue.

I'm worrying more about the guitars. They did not impress me at all yet...  Undecided

i think axl's voice on better is the best it's ever been.  the inflection in his voice when he sings "i never would although i could (Huh) no matter what you gave me" (at 55 seconds) is FUCKING amazing.  he's actaully singing now instead of screaming.   ok

Saul, I think the last part in Better is Robin or Tommy as well. Definitely not Axl.

Didn't someone say Axls voice will sound very different on this album. Maybe that is what this person meant.
