In your opinion what has had the most negative affect on today's youth.

Is it this Hip Hop culture where kids think its cool to be a thug and a criminal? Cool to wear saggy ass clothes and wear gold teeth?

Is it video games and internet? where kids are becoming more and more anti social and more and more lazy??

what do u think has had the greatest negative impact on todays youth?

Definitely hip hop,D. Our society started to crumble when that shit got shoved down our throats. I haven't been awake for very long, and after I drink a few cups of coffee, I will go into more detail.

Good to see you back,D. I hadn't seen you post lately. But there's so many noobs posting in the threads now, I skip over like half the posts, so I might have missed yours.

Its not hip-hop.. its not video games.. its not ipods.. thats just putting the problem on something eles.

Its a lack of disipline and respect. Kids can get away with anything now. They aren't taught to be wise or to value anything other than themselfs.

Bad parenting. Lack of role models. ect.

Alot of people dont realize that the hip hop movememnt actually started with the grunge movement. Without grunge, it never would have gotten out of control. Grunge was a fake movement, created by MTV. They had to shove Nirvana down our throats for people to accept it. They started playing their video, and no one responded to it. So they put it into massive rotation and it finally caught on, and in the process, killing the rock movement that still hasnt recovered. Grunge became super trendy, and rich kids started shopping for clothes at thrift stores. Fucking insane. MTV finally realized the true power they had, and as that movement started to fizzle out, they created a new one:rap/hip hop

This movement made grunge look like sesame street. Advocating a thug lifestyle, wearing pants down to your knees, flashing gang signs, colors, wanting girls to mostly screw black guys, etc. As the years went by and the movement didn't die, it carried over into an even younger generation. We now have 10 year old girls dressing like sluts(and some having sex), 12 year old boys bringing guns to school, and in some cases, 5 year old kids bringing crack to school. It shows no sign of stopping anytime soon, and it makes me cringe at the thought of our society when these people become adults, and have some say in the world. Whats next? Embryos doing drive bys on their mom's way to the gynecologist??

Sorry James but I think what your saying is wrong.

If kids were taught respect, responciblity and morals.. by their parents like they should be... then kids wouldn't be dressing like sluts or shooting at each other. The music just happens to reflect their immaturity.

Its easy to pin the blame on moves/music/games.. but if a child is taught how to be a good/humble person no amount of rap/violence on tv will affect him.

Wo0o! SLC... just keep doing what your doing man. Kids need to be taught those things... if other people think its harsh it's just because they don't understand.

"You mean you got mad at your kid for cheating on a test?! And you didn't buy him that new iPod!?"  Roll Eyes

I think the entire message of 50 cent is wrong.. get rich or die trying.. To me glorifying his life and almost licking his ass because he was shot nine time and lived.. So basically his message is make money at any cost no matter who you hurt or kill to get the bling.. very negative message to send to the black youth.. In the end you are responsible for your own actions, but the poor or uneducated tend to view the quick way out as the best and use these guys as role models..

This thread is pathetic.? James, sorry, but you're full of shit.?

You think MTV invented Hip Hop?? Dude, that music came from the underground like any other genre, and it's good fucking music for the record.? Rock died down in the 90s because it had had its time and people were bored of it, not because of an evil plot to manipulate our youth into using guns.

You think Hip Hop promotes violence and sexism?? Well, maybe it does, but don't you find it a bit hypocritical to complain about that on a Guns n' Roses board?? If 50 Cent grew up in a world of guns and drugs, what else would you expect him to rap about?? Not that I like 50 Cent, for the record.? He is a noob.

wearing pants down to your knees, flashing gang signs, colors, wanting girls to mostly screw black guys, etc

So you don't like the culture, evidently.? You don't like the dress sense which is a shame because, personally, goths bug me more.? I'm puzzled though; as the majority of rappers are black, why wouldn't they want girls to have sex with them?? Rock stars have been shagging their groupies for decades, but i guess that's okay cause they're prodominently white.? Gimme a break.

Video games aren't a bad influence either, for the record.? Kids are not total retards, they do understand the difference between real life and fake.? Games are fun because you can do anything you want - control a football team, drive a car really fast, go to war, kill people, whatever.? And all in the safety of your own home! ?You may think that it desensitises people, but i'm certain that no amount of war games would really prepare someone to see a real dead body.? Life is very different to video games, it's fun because it's not real.

Kids are more dangerous these days though.? They act like they can get away with anything at the minute, and the trouble is they probably can.? Kids know that if a teacher or policeman ever raises a finger to them they can scream bloody murder and actually get the adult in trouble - that's never been the case before and I think that's the real problem.? Quit blaming the media. Tongue

I might be full of shit, but you misinterpreted a few of my comments. I know MTV didn't invent Hip Hop. I meant that they were involved in creating/promoting/shoving down our throats hip hop's early-mid 90's movement. And the sex comment, I meant that the media promoted interracial sex to young white girls. Of course the rappers and other black guys will fuck them. They're not stupid.
