From www.thenewguns.com forum :

Ran across this article on the net this morning. At first thought it might be the same old same old. Here is the link and a brief quote from it.

http://www.thegauntlet.com/article/172/3151/Guns%20N'%20Roses.html

"Skeptics maintain the album will never be released, however, a telephone call to The Gauntlet in November of 2005 by official Geffen spokespersons indicated that the label planned to release a Guns N? Roses album on March 6th of 2006. At that time, it was rumored that the release would be a follow-up to the 2004 release of a Greatest Hits package by Geffen. More recently, it was reported by ex-GN?R axe-slinger Slash, now of Velvet Revolver, that he believed that the new studio album would finally see the light of day in March."

Here is another article with the same release date:

http://www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/guns%20n%20roses%20new%20album%20out%20next%20month_12_02_2006

"LATEST: Legendary rockers GUNS 'N' ROSES will release their first album in 13 years next month (MAR06) when the long awaited CHINESE DEMOCRACY finally hits store shelves.
The new album contains 13 tracks with titles including BETTER, THERE WAS A TIME and THE BLUES."

These are the only two I could find, I searched the recent news articles for specific dates, not just the March month date Slash had mentioned. Make of it what you will. I await futher developments with interested cynicism.

March 6th is a Monday.  If this is so then I would figure since Europe gets new albums on Mondays, it would be March 6th everywhere, and March 7th in the States.  But these release dates are far too soon imo.

i'm sick of grown up people sitting around making up rumours about gnr, it's the most pathetic thing in the world.

hahaha i couldn't agree more!

doesn't mean i don't think this isn't true...even tho it probably is a rumor, it's might just be a complete guess that just happens to be right...i hope so anyway....

Maybe by Mar06 they meant March 2006.  All the same, that seems early to me as well.  May sounds more reasonable.

the rock in rio press release says the album will be released in mid march, and i guess they don't write their press releases out of gossip boards rumours.

Maybe they called Slash? Wink

I think that a good place to start as far as rumors when the album will be released, is radio stations and MTV. When the stations get an Official Single and MTV gets a Video to play then we will know that the album will be coming shortly there after. I can't see the album dropping without those two things in place. I could be wrong though.

I can't shake the feeling that CD is going to be released unconventionally, like its just going to sneak up on us somehow.

March 6 seems too early according to me...But with all the hype now, it would be a good move to release it before the end of march...

Axl said he had not finished the songs though...   26/32 or whatever.   I would not be getting my hopes up for an imminent release.   Id LIKE to see it in March too, but I don't see it happening.

I think it's definitely on it's way but I woulden't give to much life to a march release but may sounds like a great month for a release. Everybody's releasing albums that month. Pearl Jam, RHCP and tool.  peace

I just searched for GNR on msnsearch, and the first link(which of course, was the official site)'s description said "The official website for Chinese Democracy: Expected May 2006."

hmm...

It always changes months every year. When we get to May, it will say 'expected July 2006'.

Just talked to a buddy of mine who is a DJ for a rock station here in Florida. He's always asking me for "insider" info on wrestling whenever we chat (he's a huge wrestling fan and I work in the wrestling business). Anyway, I figured I'd turn the tables on him for once and asked what he'd been hearing about Chinese Democracy if anything. He said his station was promised to be one of the first to receive the new GNR single if they resisted playing IRS. He confirmed that Prostitute is expected to be the single and that it's scheduled to go for adds the first week of April, but that stations that didn't play IRS would probably get it a week earlier. He also said he'd heard that the album drops the first week of June, which is interesting because I saw June 6 mentioned here on the board, but then it vanished. I was hoping the album would be out sooner, but at this point, what's another couple months?

I believe it, but I wanna hear it from the horse's mouth.  Eh, if it does take this long, it'll be a good graduation present........ crying
