In answer to the question the thread title poses, yes, I do believe we will see it this year - the ball now seems to be rolling and surely a release is not far away.

Its funny, I dont know if this has been discussed or not, but Axls recent interview where he says "you'll hear music this year" whilst also saying there were songs still to be completed, at the time had me convinced it would be a late in the year release (if that). That does not seem to be the case....

I think old Uncle Axl threw a few red herrings into the mix in that interview ...?

Is it possible that Slash, in recent interviews, has not been letting on about some things? either??

I highly doubt a reunion takes place soon, Jimmy. I think both sides let the rumour stay floating in the air because it helps both sides. You're right about the Axl statement. He was either telling a little fib to keep the scent off, or was actually referring to an album after CD when saying it was "almost done". When we see the confirmed tracklist and there's not 13 on it, then we'll know he was just covering up the real progress.

yeah Im not thinking full reunion, but partial is not totally out of the question - very unlikely tho.

I think they need more than a single out before Rio (Lisbon). They need the whole album out, and correct me if im wrong, the press release implies it will be out by then ..

For his sake and ours, I certainly hope so. The album has to be out before Rio. No doubt. Not a single either, the whole album. If only a single is released, then he risks another 'Oh My God' type situation, and that would be worst case scenario. Negative reaction to 1 new song while he is on tour would likely cause chaos in the GNR camp. He's got to just throw the album out there, march ahead and dont look back.

They'd be idiots not to release an album before playing these festivals. If they showcase the new music without the album the crowd just won't be into it, and I think we'd all rather here the new stuff on the record first. If they just play the old stuff they'll be labelled 'hired guns' again. A single wouldn't be sufficient if you ask me.

Maybe Chinese Democracy before the festivals and a follow up before a tour next year?

Chinese democracy will start in the next 4 wks wether it be a single or the album either way the lot will have to be fed to us before they go on tour.

If they are planning to play a festival I would hope that they would have new material to play...but I'll believe it when I can hold it in my hands...until then, no energy going into it...just some minor happy thoughts

I'm getting hopeful the album will come out this year, but I think a March release isn't very likely.  It's already Feb. 21.  Usually an album will have an official single hit the air waves at least a month or so before the CD actually drops.  With it being practically March already and no release date set, I just don't see it happening that soon.

I agree, that April date seems much more realistic to me...But then again, we've been waiting for 10 years...Who cares about a month or two?
