Does the CD need to come out before they play these festivals?  I think it does.  They can't just do the same thing as 2002.  I don't see how they could do it any other way.  Also, think it would be huge for album sales.

The European crowd will buy tickets regardless - but it sure wouldn't hurt.

I think the CD needs to come out before the tour.  But not before the festivals.

I think they should get CD out before the festivals. They definitely should have a single out at least.

I don't know any inside info so what I say is just my views.

With all the recent rumours (and now tours) I guarentee we will have an announcement this week (Wednesday or Friday) and the album will either be out March or April.

They really should release the CD... before the tour! It makes no sense to show people music before they can actually purchase it. I thought the point of touring was to make your music more popular, but if fans cant buy your music, then whats the point???

true enough.

i dont think we will see the album before the shows (and part of me hopes we dont - cause i want another classic gnr set like at leeds in 2002 - if we get the record, it could clog up the setlist), but you never know if if these reports of an imminent announcement prove grounded.

If CD does not come out before the tour starts I will lose a lot of faith in the intelligence of Axl. I say that because I think everyone saw that the 2002 tour was badly hurt by the fact that the band didn't want to play new songs since they feared that they would be bootlegged and the crowds (at least in the US) were not what they could have been because there was not really anything to draw fans to the concerts other than the fact that the band was named Guns N' Roses.

We have been saying on these boards ever since 2002 that a tour without a released CD is pointless. If CD has not been released before the summer, Axl might as well stay home.

I want to believe...

Call me a pessimist, I guess waiting almost 13 years for an album can do that to you. However, despite the recent leaks and the festival announcements I still don't think CD will be released this year. In his most recent 'interview' Axl did say we would hear music this year, I really believe he was referring to new material being played at these festivals and possibly a song released on a soundtrack (And who knows, maybe the leaks too if they WERE intentional). If he was indeed planning to release this year I think he would have said in that interview, maybe something along the lines of 'expect a release date soon' (Which he's said before!). Axl may also want to capitalize on the 20 year anniversery of AFD by releasing next year.  People forget how lenghty the process of putting an album together is, even AFTER all the material has been recorded (Which again according to Axl is 'almost' finished), things like album sequencing and choosing artwork can be mammoth tasks for any artist let alone Axl perfectionist Rose!

I am not trying to be a negative ass, just posting some thoughts of mine. We have all been let down before let's not drop our guard just yet. I hope to be proven wrong as I want this album as much as the next man, the new material is indeed amazing ('Mind blowing and fucking huge' as we were told!). TWAT really is one of the most beautiful songs I have heard for years, the lyrics, Axl's voice, the guitars it all makes the hairs on my neck stand up.

I'll still need a release date to answer yes, but I'm more optimistic now than I've ever been.

I believe the album will be out this year and we'll hear a definitive release date of some sort within a week.

If the Festivals keep blowing the lid off their news, we'll probably hear sooner.. like in the next 2-3 days.

Well things look better now than they ever have. Stuff leaking wheather it's intentional or not is a good sign. Schedualed shows rumor or not are aslo a good sign. Having said that I'm not convinced of anything yet. I'm definately not a supporter of the idea that the album will be out in March. End of April at the earliest but that would mean everything has to go into motion right now. A single would need to be on radio within a week or so and muisc stores(HMV, Virgin etc.) ?would need to be aware of a release date. ?Also in my opinion if the album isn't out by summer we won't see it untill at least late September. I don't see them dropping it in mid summer. After that we'd be looking at a Christmas release. It crazy. There seems to a be a window of opportunity right now but we all know that window can close in a heart beat.

Alice Cooper on "Nights with Alice Cooper" just said, "Since the new album is coming out this year, here's Paradise City"
