Where did this rumour start?
I was wondering that same thing. The guy says its rumoured, but I never heard that. I think its just his speculation. Unless its a rumour over at Sp1at or blabbermouth or something.

Ha ha, Blabbermouth. They're ALWAYS right. Roll Eyes
To me, I think this is just some random guy's idea that is spreading through the forums. But it does seem plausible, doesn't it?

I reckon the whole album will be launched on iTunes.

...the only way they can make the deadline is to launch it on iTunes, thus avoiding the printing and duplication delays, and then make it available in shops a couple of weeks later when that is ready...

I don't think it would happen. While Apple has cornered the market for selling digital music the label would be limiting the consumer base for the first few weeks of the album. They'd also make less as labels see less money from an album being sold via iTunes vs. a CD. From the point of view of a record label it makes more sense to get the album out in stores first, not to debut on iTunes.

i agree. for max. sales the ALBUM must be out in all arenas, especially the album format and preferably Itunes also and anything else they can think of. i hope they have some kind of bonus dvd along with it!

Yes, but Bands make more money through legal downloads such as I tunes than just regular album sales.  Hence the reason big bands like U2 and The Stones do the whole I tunes thing.

I would still prefer to have a physical cd in my hand with artwork and a finished casing or digipak rather than an mp3 on my desktop. For that reason, I will always like the standard single as opposed to the itune single.

That doesn't change the fact that the label is behind distribution.

Now a single could very well debut on iTunes. Many bands have done that. But an entire album like this where the label has been hemmoraging money for years? They want to sell as many albums as possible.

The same here. Besides, i normally back up my CD's for the car and the CD's for the car tend to get wrecked. As well as back up copies for the car tend to rip my CD's into mp3 on the PC so i can simply select 1 of many tracks, as i'm too lazy to insert CD's into CD players in the house.
