Hello, I am an older gunner, seen them in 88, 92, 2002,. I cant stop listening to twat, is it me, or if you seen them in 1992, can you see this song live? Axl at the piano, with his drinks, bandanna, and glasses, slash smoking a cig, bent over playing the solos. Horns, violins, in background! You had to witness Nov rain live live to know the feeling! I can see him and the new band with this one. It better happen! Sorry guys, just remembering some old good times!

Totally agree.  I'm telling you - these "demo" versions of the songs just made me want the album more!!

It's going to be awesome to see them live playing such great old stuff with QUALITY new stuff.  None of this "Oh, they're playing a new song, I'm sitting down now."

Saw them in 88 and  91 , The  Blues is what reminds me of classic  GNR. I love TWAT, but The Blues reminds me of an UYI tune.

A reminder to everyone...requests for leaked songs aren't allowed.  Neither are posts telling someone to email you so he/she can get a leaked song.  Stay on topic.

I'm 26 (just for a few more weeks anyway)... does that make me an old gunner?

I can't see them playing with the old band for a couple of reasons... I have to admit I haven't been listening to any old GNR in a while, but when I heard the leaks it made me go back and listen to the UYI albums. Axl's songwriting is so much better now its scary. The music for the new songs is completely different and fits perfectly with the songwriting (which I was really concerned about for the last few years)... I just don't see the old band playing it...

A little off topic, but I was really concerned with his voice. Really concerned. When I heard it at the first comeback gig in RIO it sounded nothing like what I remembered. Then during the tour it sounded even more different. Very clean, much higher. But on these leaks I have to say, man, those fears have been laid to rest. His voice sounds Fantastic. Especially what I heard on Better. This is the best his voice has ever been IMO. Even in IRS with that long scream... It just fits. His voice is no longer a weapon, its an actual instrument.

This is a different man, different singer, and different musician than he was back in 92. I think for the better. I don't even want to think about the old band being a part of this music to be honest with you.

I'm an older gunner.  ok  I saw them in 88 and 4 times in the early 90's.  Sadly I was in Philly in 2002 also.  In any case, I can't wait to add 2006 to the list!  beer  Yeessss!

saw em 3 times on the Appetite tour,
watched the transition from clubs , to theatres, to arena's in one year

I did not know what to expect from the new music
This is better than any of the songs they had played in 2002
glad to say it is not techno - O MY GOD - they named that song right - bet they wish they could hit delete

Other than the beats and the kind of experimentalish beginnings to each song (don't do this on every song Axl, makes em all sound the same in the beginning), buy anyways other than the beginnings the songs rock, have a very epic, kind of classic rock feel to them, I love it,
I think "Better" is fuckin amazing,
think "TWAT" needs some work, although some parts are incredible,
and "IRS" somewhere in the middle of the two

Im 35 and seen GNR 14 times between 87 and 2002, IVe loved the evolution, and the ride.

Its been painfull at times, only the strong survive. U look at some Ive known, and they look broken by time, when Im full of spirit and energy, (still get carded , that kinda pisses me off.), This band rocks, I have fond memories of the old days, but shit, Im all for living today , and GNR still play a part of myt life, 20 yrs come 2007.

Being part of the GNR comunity since GNRX days back in 2002, and HTGTH, and many others I posted at moderated and what not, its all good. ANd Im so excited for the yourger genration to be able to really get a taste of what its like......As I did when I was young and impressionable, GNR definitly left a mark on me.

I've got to come clean...I'm not 32, I'm really 31.  I think that still puts me in the realm of "older Gunner."  The new shit is un-fuckin-believable!  The insane part is these are just demos!!
My god, we're in for a treat.

I've played these for folks who haven't heard GNR in years, and on-average, they're floored!  I am fascinated by observing the first listen.  I played IRS for a chick at work today and her first words were, "Oh my god! He sounds just as good as he used to!"  The smile was fuckin killer...Axl's still got it.   Wink  Seriously, true story.  My boss let me use his computer for the mp3.  He proceeded to tell us how the local radio station had some morning guys ripping Axl.  I just said it's real easy to kick a guy who doesn't fight back.

Do any other Old Gunners remember Superman II ?  The one where Superman gives up his super-powers to be with an earthling??  In a small way, it's how I see Axl's hibernation.  He's comin' back to kick some ass...I'm psyched!   Damn, to be 22 years old again, I'd be able to go overseas and see Rock-in-Rio.   beer  You younger gunners have a few vodka shots for me over there!!!!!!      beer

Older gunner here too. Well, my opinion is that some of the new songs are serviceable, but if the lot had been released earlier GNR would  have never achieved stardom. A few of the songs will stand the test of time--The Blues, Maddy, TWAT, but the rest are IMO forgettable. I think the  fact that fans are starved for new music makes them overestimate the quality of the new songs. Most are mediocre at best, compared to either the older GNR stuff or other new music in general by established bands. A lot of people  will disagree, but the fact is, this is music that Axl can make because he can use the reputation of the original GNR. If he was starting out and had no previous reputation, this music would not make a dent in the music world.

Been there since 1987, and from the 1:05 to 1:28 mark in IRS, as well as the last minute of that song is the best stuff I've heard from them, well since Appetite.

AFD was the first CD I EVER bought.  Amazing how I still listen to it after all these years.  Cant' say the same for all of my Dokken, Whitesnake, Crue, Lillian Axe, Queensryche and Tesla discs that I bought afterwards.  hihi

Ironically, I was never went to a show when GNR were in their hey day, so the only GNR show I have ever been to was MSG 2002.  Glad to say thats not the last time anyone will ever see Axl live in concert Smiley

Glad to see there are a lot of young gunners out there.  I'm a HUGE doors fan as well as GNR and just b/c I wasn't around when they were big or got to see them live it doesn't take away from someones passion for the music.  I think its awesome that 15,16 year old kids are listening to GNR now and finding the music on their own.  Says a lot about todays music as well as the quality of all those GNR tunes that us older dudes grew up with.

I have to say that i was thinking earlier today, that i can picture old Axl singing Oh My God. something that i never would have thought i would be saying before today, but i was listening to Garden Of Eden, and right afterwards Oh My God came on. It seems to me that i can picture the way Axl is in the video for Garden Of Eden singing Oh My God, and it made me like the song a hell of a lot more.

^ totally agree, but back when we were young we found out about the Door, Bealtles , the WHo either from our parents, radio, then a thing called MTV came on the scene, though I think the latter have droped the ball recent yrs, and lost the focus of why they started in the first place....anyway...ROCKON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's your right to disagree, and I will not criticize you for it.
I am just being honest. I would hope you would agree that I have a right  to my opinion, which is the point of a discussion board.
If  it is negative, well, that is your opinion. In my opinion, yours is over-opitimist that is unwarranted.
But whatever. People  have  the right to an opinion, at  least  in the USA. Try being tolerant, without the vulgarity or implicit judgment (I am right, you are wrong). That attitude goes nowhere.

I'll be 33 in May and GNR are the most important band of my life. Seen them twice including 2002. Would have been 3 times if James Hetfield didn't get burned and they cancelled a bunch of shows and never rescheduled there show here in Vancouver, BC. Anyway i'm very positive about what Axl has done. I do not miss the old band as i've seen what they can do and all of there solo stuff is very forgetable and Velvet Revolver is good rock and there concert was great but not the same vibe. This is Axl's turn to shine and show the old boys what he wanted to do. My only complaint about TWAT is that the ending reminds me too much of how Sympathy for the Devil ended. Not that is bad and i may be the only that hears it but it seems like that style of ending is too predictable and drawn out. My other concern is that the new CD won't seem fresh enough to us as we have heard portions of or complete tracks to approx. 8 or 9 songs of a 13 track album. We really only have a handful of songs to surprise us and that is if they aren't leaked also. Anyway the songs we've heard are great and look forward to a great future for Axl and his new band.
