I am an attorney at Greenberg Glusker, and this law firm represents W. Axl Rose. I am authorized to act on his behalf with respect to his intellectual proeprty rights. It has come to our attention that users on your site are posting links directing users to sites where songs from Mr. Rose's forthcoming "Chinese Democracy" album can be downloaded. Specifically, downloads of the songs "IRS," "Better," "There Was a Time," Chinese Democracy," and "Rhiad and the Bedouins" can be found through links in the following posts on your website:

Mr. Rose has not authorized the copying or distribution of these sound recordings or musical compositions. The distribution of this song violates the copyrights in both the sound recording and musical composition. Knowingly providing a link to infringing material constitutes contributory copyright infringement. Please confirm immediately that you will cooperate and remove the link from your website. Thank you for your anticipated prompt cooperation.

Simple solution for you:

Ask him to send an email to you from a proper account. A private message sent anonymously on a forum would not hold up in court I don't think.

Any C&D should be delivered from a valid business email address.

You could also request one to be snail mailed but that would mean giving out your info, not a great idea.

looks like a copy and paste of a C&D that was posted before (I think on mygnr, but not sure).

I think someone might be playing with you, but I'd follow up via PM to tell him you want the C&D sent FROM a proper business email addy TO your proper email addy, and followed up via registered letter to your postal address.
