Here Today...

« on: February 17, 2006, 07:52:56 PM »

From mygnrforum:

"ok, just got off the phone with a friend of mine who called and requested IRS from rocket 101 and 103.1 the fox(im near buffalo ny). rocket 101 will play it again, but considering they just played it, they said to wait a while...

so ill be up at 2am when my friend requests it.

anyway, we tried to get 103.1 to play it, but they refused, saying that they cant play it again till they get the offical IRS single in march. he said that they had it listed, that they would be getting it sometime in march.

hmmmm, i have to believe this, even though part of me wants to deny it. its probably not worth asking merck about, as we will probably have the answer in a matter of days."

Better wont be the first single.. Its too different.

And didn't Merck say IRS wasnt top ten material? But then again its Merck so I guess we could see this happen.

I thought IRS wasn't considered a "big gun" (like not single material).

But I do think a ROCKER song will be better as a first single instead of a BALLAD.

From song that have gotten the most intenet play...

"Chinese Democracy" --->  played too much during concerts & bootleg.  Not a single.
"Madagascar" --->  same as above.
"The Blues" --->  same as above.
"I.R.S."  --->  does not sound too good to be a single.

"Better" --->  has the catch at the begining to drawn in people to say "what the f*ck is this?" and then kick it into GNR overdrive. to keep the listeners.  "Better" is a better single and more feasible to sell albums.

"Chinese Democracy" --->? played too much during concerts & bootleg.? Not a single.
"Madagascar" --->? same as above.
"The Blues" --->? same as above.
"I.R.S."? --->? does not sound too good to be a single.

"Better" --->? has the catch at the begining to drawn in people to say "what the f*ck is this?" and then kick it into GNR overdrive. to keep the listeners.? "Better" is a better single and more feasible to sell albums.

You cannot really say that considering you've heard no full studio versions of any songs and havn't heard more then half of the rest of the albums tracks.

And The Blues is much better then Better  hihi

I think no matter how many times Guns has played Madagascar, the final CD version will worth a single. So far, it's still my favorite, I can imagine that with orchestal arrangements like NR.

That would be a grrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeaaaaattttt single !

Of the songs we've heard so far, "The Blues" would be the best single as far as surefire hits go.  That song would be huge, and it would make a great video.  "Better" sounds very promising, but I'd like to hear the chorus and the solos before making a final judgment on how good of a single it would be.

It doesn't matter if it is a demo or not. ?It has received exposure and "Better" gets a more positive reaction. ?It is a psychological situation.

If Axl has a cleaned up, solid sounding version of IRS then I think it might be time to relase it as a single even if the album isn't on it's way any time soon. This thing has gotten way out of his hands now and an official studio relase would be the only way to combat it. DO IT AXL!!!! There's nothng to be affraid of now. People love it. IRS in march makes sense. I still don't belive an album in March is likely though.

Having a song that hasn't been release would be odd. ?That would make 6 songs out of 13 that has been heard before the album hits stores.

I agree with Prucc. Better would be the more successful hit radio wise.
