not a bad idea but I'd prefer separate stereo and surround release. Porcupine Tree did this at their last two albums, I think it should be done this way

Yeah, stereo is generally better than computer speakers.

The optimal setup would be to play the songs through a surround sound environment (5.1).

nope hate to burst your bubble but it wouldnt be if it was recorded in stereo 2 channel format it would sound like ass and the imaging would go to hell
